07/17 – Present Letterkenny Army Depot Chambersburg, PA Quality Control Inspector -

Perform in-process and acceptance inspection of painting, cleaning and finishing of combat and tactical vehicles, electronic test equipment and missile guidance systems and their assemblies, subassemblies or components.

Determine through detailed or sampling inspection if surfaces meet the prescribed standards, specifications and other established criteria.

Provide recommendations or modifications to correct condition or deficiency.

Assures that items are properly cleaned and prepared for painting.

Use of thickness gage to determine if paint is within specified tolerances.

Assure that vehicles, weapons, etc., are properly marked and stenciled.

Assure that decals have been properly applied.

Check upholstery items for serviceability and proper installation.

In performance of the inspection, apply a thorough knowledge of the commodity, craft, skill or trade, and quality control plans and procedures.

When written plans are not provided, determine acceptable quality levels, lot size, and sample size.

Classify defects as required and makes decisions on acceptability of material based on established criteria.

Record inspection results as required in the data feedback system.

Provide necessary information for initiation of corrective action reports as required.

Perform inspection in conjunction with quality audits and special reliability investigations during various processes to detect quality deviations.

Provide Quality Assurance and/or Inspection Specialist with information concerning damaged or improper material.

Job Skill Set:

Knowledge of accepted surface preparation, cleaning processes resulting in degree of cleanliness and final paint finishing techniques.

Knowledge in application of coating materials so those surfaces meet texture, aesthetic, thickness and level requirements, skill in reading and interpreting technical instructions, quality/work procedures, engineering drawings, and other technical references to meet contractual requirements without degradation of safety or quality, ability to read blueprints and specifications.
