When I started working for The Hudson’s’ Bay Company, a new system was put into place. As with any system of this size and complexity there were teething issues. Resources were stretched. The opportunities were obvious but overwhelming. Over the next weeks I put a few resources to investigate and classifying root causes. Then with the addition of a few temporary resources, I divided the team into

1.People supporting the issues of the day and

2.Folks resolving underlying issues.

With these changes the failures reduced by 85% resulting in a 30% reduction in staffing requirements with company-wide notice4ale impact.

It appears to me that there are ample opportunities for self-motivated individuals like me. A high level of organization and attention to detail is second nature to me, and I’m eager to apply my technical skills in new and challenging environments. I did what needed to be done when it was needed to be done.

Programmer Analyst/Software Specialist

A new system was put into place and many unexpected features showed up which is normal for an application of this size interfacing with 15 systems of the company..

I managed team of 17 members independently on a really large Retail Auditing System; determined work load, staffing requirements based on complexity and sequence in order of deliverables needed.

•Determined component coding in order and established priorities, allocations and contributed to project management.

•Determined that the current modus operandii warranted a revamp to handle the numerous daily failures and provide ongoing enhancement support.

•I reduced the number of failures by 85%.

Staff efficiency improved due to less frequent high stress situations.

Staff had more time to sleep, more time to think through issues and come up with better solutions.

There was a 30% reduction in labor due to these actions. This translated into a saving of $800,000 per year in direct labour costs alone.

The entire company benefited from these changes as they had much more time to deal with their issues as they got the data earlier. The company-wide impact was noticeable.
