Undergraduate Research Assistant: Bryn Mawr College June 2018 - Present Enantioselective synthesis of phenanthridinone analogs with quaternary chiral centers using the Birch-Heck Sequence. Thesis Advisor: Dr. William Malachowski
• Independently conducted multi-step synthesis, purified and analyzed products using a combination of techniques including NMR, TLC, GCMS, LCMS and FTIR.
• Conducted literature search and review of similar compounds to optimize reactions and solve problems, such as modifying substrate structure to increase yield from 47% to 86% over 3 steps.
• Evaluated reactions by separating mixtures of products with column chromatography and analyzing each product.
• Experience with air and moisture sensitive reactions, organometallic reactions.
• Reactions Run: Birch reduction, Curtius rearrangement, LAH reduction, triflation, amide formation, Heck. Organic Chemistry Teacher’s Assistant: Bryn Mawr College August 2018 - Present
• Taught a class of ~60 organic chemistry students.
• Designed ‘warm-up’ problems for each class and supervised weekly recitation/problem sessions.
• Held office hours twice a week to address students’ questions and improve conceptual understanding. Other Work Experience
