This was a temp job, and a good way for me to get exposed to the Logistics industry.

I worked on the Customs Brokerage team, and I filed the ISF (Importer Security Filing) documents, which steamships need to cross US customs with their imported goods.

I worked with the Global Forwarding software, Navisphere, as well as the computer program Import2000/Descartes.

I was responsible for supporting and assisting Account Managers through clerical-style work.

I retrieved new policy documents off carrier websites daily, and then moved them into the Account Manager’s un-routed folder for them to work with.

I was responsible for adding and updating claims, retrieving loss runs for remarketing purposes, adding and removing drivers/vehicles, and keeping the insured’s records current in the agency management system, Applied Epic. I would also contact billing companies to check on an insured’s payment status.

I was also employed at Critchell Miller during the summers I attended college as a Seasonal Receptionist.

As the receptionist, I would answer phones, open and distribute incoming mail, enter data into the agency management system (TAM), prepare outgoing mail, assist customers visiting the agency, file papers, etc.
