CURRENT/RECENT ACTIVITIES

As the Lead for Architecture & Advisory Practice in Capgemini FS UK Insights & Data set the vision for Data Architecture, including solution and service offerings in Data Architecture, Data Governance, and Data Migration, recruiting and hiring of data architects, and integration of new technologies into Data Architecture. His practice consisted of 45 delivery specialists. In this role, developed collateral, expertise, and corporate capability in the regulatory and compliance areas, including GDPR and BCBS239

For the Yorkshire Building Society, led the data migration of three other recently acquired Building Societies’ data onto a single Oracle platform thereby reducing IT costs for maintenance and development from four platforms to one as well as supporting several regulatory requirements. By front-loading work while awaiting client dependencies and addressing data quality and governance issues at source, able to increase budgeted gross profit from 35.6% to 42%, resulting in an additional net £500k

The Lead for a scrum-based Requirements Analysis and High-Level Design engagement intended to provide a cloud-based, big data analytics capability (AWS) for a the FCA. Areas of focus were user and technical requirements, high-level design, tooling, data governance for cloud-based data, data migration, and security

SELECTED CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

Insurance

Led a BI reporting strategy analysis for Northwestern Mutual, a large US mid-western insurer. The engagement included analysis of the current field reporting process, including data sources, tools and techniques, and delivery mechanisms to provide recommendations to optimize reporting. Analysis showed a lack of proper Data Governance, including the lack of a business dictionary, was a key cost driver. Defined a roadmap for Data Governance implementation, including subject area definition, data ownership, and the integration of Data Governance into the application project lifecycle

For Farmers Insurance, led the requirements analysis, both technical and business, for the provision of a Single Customer/Product View through a COTS MDM application. This required interface with policy, claims, and billing to initially establish the agreed-upon definition of “customer” and subsequently, the specific requirements from each business area

Within Capgemini’s I&D Innovation practice, led the development of a robust Proof of Concept, CIRA, the Commercial Insurance Risk Analytics platform, in partnership with HP, using their Vertica and Autonomy products. This application draws both internal data and external big data, including geo-spatial, to assist commercial underwriters is risk analysis. CIRA has drawn considerable industry attention

Telecoms

After the merger of Slovak Telekom with T-Mobile, led the analysis for the rationalization of their two former Oracle-based Enterprise Data Warehouses. This analysis included a scoring of the two architectures by component and recommendations for the new, single enterprise-wide warehouse, including products and tools, as well as implementation planning (ETL v ELT)

Banking

For Lloyds Banking Group (LBG), led the data-related analysis for the partitioning of assets as per the EC-directed divestiture through the creation of a “bank within a bank”. This included development of a conceptual data model representing the to-be-divested bank, as well as the development of data-related artifacts supporting the divestiture. Data governance standards were established for both sets of data, including (re)assignment of ownership and stewardship

At LBG, prior to the completion of the integration of HBOS and Lloyds systems following the acquisition, served as Lead Information Architect on the design of an immediate pay-out system in case of default to satisfy new FSA regulatory requirements. This system required the implementation of a Single Customer View (SCV) across existing Lloyds and HBOS customer and product systems. In this role, was responsible for commercial data transport design, integrating over 25 diverse data sources

Advised CIOs, CEOs, and Governance Officers of three banks in Bosnia-Herzegovina in the transformation of their technology strategies in accordance with western banking standards, post Bosnian conflict. These included technology support for operations, asset management, and core banking

Led Swaps processing re-engineering feasibility study for BNY/Mellon. To streamline the current processing, the engagement’s objectives included definition of a high-level data model for the incoming swaps that could be used by all subscriber services to include all requisite indicative and pricing data, as well as creation of a long-term roadmap for implementation

Practice Leadership/Profit Shaper

Led the Wipro Consulting BI/DW Practice in EMEA. In this role, responsible for recruiting, practice P&L, staff management, client liaison and business development, as well as overall practice billability. Exceeded target revenues of $4.8M

As the Lead for Architecture & Advisory Practice in Capgemini FS UK Insights & Data, set the vision for Data Architecture, including solution and service offerings, recruiting and hiring, and integration of new technologies. Practice consisted of 45 data architects and reporting specialists. Supported the development of collateral and corporate capability in the regulatory and compliance areas. Managed revenues of £7.5M
