Provided technical expertise, advanced equipment and operational support to the oil and gas industry.

Director, Business Intelligence / Data Warehouse

Hired and managed a team of 16 in the development and support of Business Intelligence for the Rig Systems division.

Rewrote ETL using Informatica to include more information into the Data Warehouse at a faster rate.

Designed and wrote Cognos Dashboards to show the data in an understandable format to upper management.

Stabilized and dramatically improved the quality of the data going into the data warehouse.

Provided data management support in the post-merger processes.

Enabled improvement of on time delivery from < 50 % to over 80% by Consolidated ERP systems. Products were completed at multiple plants with finished products frequently being delivered to customers late resulting in back charges. Determined problem created by use of multiple ERP systems. Consolidated to produce action reports from data warehouse showing what needed to be delivered and when.

Slashed data pulls from ten hours to less than three hours by rewriting to focus on sustainability. Company had 14 separate ERP systems all maintained separately. ETL process took excessively long. Examined processes and determined they had been written with speed of completion without regards to sustainability. Led data team in rewriting all extracts to cut data pull time and increase sustainability.

Cut HR development of business expansion report from 20-man days per month to 2nd business day availability. Rapid NOV growth resulted in HR having difficult time producing hiring report. Determined HR had all needed data in HR systems. Extracted data and put in data warehouse. Wrote Cognos reports against data warehouse enabling rapid data availability and report production.

Designed and implemented training program for NOV to encourage use of new data warehouse. Despite having rebuilt data warehouse enabling rapid creation of needed reports, it was difficult to get people to use. Developed and implemented monthly training sessions. Over four years trained over 1000 users on capabilities. Enabled better use of the data and significant additional request for data.

Eliminated need to hire 200 additional engineers by creating datamart with links back to equipment drawings. Critical information when designing rig was difficult to find. Required designers to review specifications, determine equipment needed and create new plan for every situation. Datamart enabled engineering group to eliminate need to hire additional engineers while accelerating equipment availability.

Reports where written against MFG System database (Oracle), Data Warehouse (Oracle), Cognos Cubes, and Microsoft Cubes (MDX). Depending on how fresh the data needed to be and how fast the report should run, the proper source would be chosen.

Manager, Business Services

Managed team of ten in the creation and maintenance of business intelligence systems, new applications and systems integration through full software development lifecycle using agile / scrum methodologies. Supported 89 legacy applications. Designed and developed internet and intranet websites. Oversaw business use of enterprise applications.

Implemented Business Intelligence environment using Cognos, Informatica, Business Objects, Oracle, and MS Sql Server.

Managed the development and support group for the Oracle Financials 11i implementation.

Led development group during the post-merger integration of RMC and Rinker for the unification of systems.

Implemented SAP CRM for Customer Experience Management (CEM) group.

Worked with the CEM group and their use of SAP-BW

Wrote reports using SAP-BW, Crystal Reports, and Cognos. Developed material availability system to eliminate run outs and increase truck utilization and order accuracy. Major challenge in running concrete plant is maintaining enough cement to prevent running out during production. Developed SmartSilo system that tracked cement in silos at 450 plants and 1000 silos to trigger a low cement alert and initiate a rapid refill.

Designed CEMEX B2B website enabling customers to go online, review and pay bills. Need identified to improve the customer experience. Current call-in process was slow and lacked rapid access to needed information. Usage took off quickly processing over $10M per month in online payments. Slashed number of man hours and response time required to answer billing questions.

Found $1M in revenue and inventory errors and increased profitability by consolidating ten separate RMC ERP systems. Management needed a better way to track, consolidate and report business performance. Researched alternatives and determined Cognos was best choice for reporting and Informatica for ETL tools. Negotiated deep price discounts of up to 50% for each.

Managed a team of 6 in the development of new Oracle applications and systems integration from conception through deployment; supported existing applications; designed and developed internet and intranet web sites.

●Purchased and implemented Cognos and Informatica. Built data warehouse that showed consolidated data for all of RMC.

●Wrote the interface to ADP to assurance proper payroll payments.
