Operating Systems and Architectures

My background includes extensive experience with all Microsoft operating systems, from Windows 3.1 – Windows 10 and Windows Server NT 3.51 – 2016. I have been personally responsible for designing several corporate architectures based on Windows and Active Directory. This includes Active Directory migration projects and unified Windows/UNIX designs. As the IT department manager it was my responsibility to integrate Windows into our existing LAN/WAN. This included implementing fully redundant DHCP, DNS, print, and domain architectures. The final result was a rock solid environment of over 40 Windows servers providing advanced corporate services over a WAN spanning 6 locations in 3 countries.

I am also very familiar with numerous UNIX operating systems including IBM’s AIX 3.2.5R – 5L, HPUX 9.0 – 11.0, IRIX 5.2, DEC Ultrix, SunOS, Solaris 2.5.1 – 2.8, and Linux. My previous job experience includes system administration for a software engineering company developing products on both Windows and UNIX (AIX, HPUX, and Solaris). This required extensive work with all operating systems and support of our home grow source code management applications running on Oracle/AIX. This environment included a mix of over 100 Windows and UNIX systems with centralized storage on Network Appliance file servers.

My UNIX background also includes design and construction of extensive UNIX infrastructure including distributed DNS (BIND), NIS, automounting, NFS services, large storage pools, and archiving/backups.

I have extensive experience with Network Appliance file servers, distributed storage, and some experience with EMC and Celera equipment.

Database and Applications

My experience also includes database administration skills on Microsoft SQL Server (6.5 – 2014), Oracle (limited), Sybase ASE (limited), and MySQL. Projects have included implementing and supporting Siebel CRM, Great Plains, MAS90, Dynamics NAV, and Platinum financials and a Vantive

(now PeopleSoft) defect tracking system.

In addition, I have been responsible for designing corporate messaging platforms built on Microsoft Exchange (5.0 - 2016), including multi-server rollouts, integrated virus scanning, and support of 300+ client seats.

On the web side I am an experienced IIS and Apache administrator, having developed both intranet and internet sites at 3 different companies. I have experience with all facets of IIS and Apache administration including architecture, installation and support. I have done a lot of work with VBScript, ASP, and PERL scripting, including the development of intranet applications that tie into Exchange, SQL Server, and legacy UNIX databases, including Oracle and MySQL. I also have extensive experience with backup and disaster recovery, having been responsible for the backup and offsite storage of multi-terabyte Sybase ASE databases and 300+ GB source code repositories. This includes the management of a 2000+ piece offsite media pool. My backup software experience includes CA’s ARCServe 6.0 – 16 on both Windows and UNIX, Seagate Backup-Exec, Budtool, Netvault and SAN/NDMP integration.

Industry specific software support includes Cerner Etreby (pharmacy), DHS CPR Plus (specialty pharmacy and infusion), DSI Elligence/MDSuite (medical DME billing), LaserFiche (document management), MAS B32 and Mastermind (security monitoring), Security Trax (security CRM), Rapid Response/Stages (security monitoring), alarm.com, and DocuSign (electronic contracts). Network Administration

I have personally been responsible for the design and architecture of a 6 site WAN spanning 3 countries and including MPLS, T1, T3, OC-3, frame relay and VPN connectivity. On the hardware side I have experience with both 3Com, Dell, and Cisco products including Cisco 4000, 5000, and 6500 series switches and 2500/3700 series routers running Cisco’s IOS and both TCP/IP and ATM protocols. Our ATM WAN design included integrated voice and video support, providing no-cost long distance calls between sites, and remote high-speed video-conferencing

(Polycom). I also have heavy experience with Bay VPN gear, the Cisco ASA/PIX series of firewalls, Ubiquiti network equipment, Mikrotik network equipment and POE. This includes RADIUS authentication with Cisco Secure ACS.

Telecommunications

On the telecom side I have extensive experience with the Interactive Intelligence CIC VoIP platform as well as Avaya (Definity G3 and S8700) PBX’s, Nortel, and Asterisk/Trixbox. This includes programming custom auto-attendants, skills, splits, advanced routing, MPLS, and muti-site failover. Also custom programming and software development with telecom APIs, click-to-dial, and database lookups. Implemented a multi-site VoIP network with MPLS and integrated faxing. Software Development

Experienced in managing development teams and overseeing the business requirements, architecture, development, testing, and release of enterprise software. PC Support and Software

I have over 30 years of PC support experience including managing PC support and help-desk implementations in multiple offices. This includes support of all Windows operating systems, and workstations running IRIX, HPUX, Solaris and Linux. On the software side my experience includes the following: Office 95 – 2016, Outlook/Exchange, Visio, Exceed, NFS Maestro, PC Anywhere, MS Project 98 – 2013, Project Central, SharePoint, FileNET IMS and Panagon products, HTML, UNIX shell scripting, PERL, ASP/VBScript, GCC, Sonitrol/Gyyr/Keri Access control, Snort IDS, PGP, Great Plains Dynamics, ACT, Goldmine, and many more software packages. I was responsible for implementing Symantec Ghost at several companies and designing common PC operating system and software images. In addition it was my responsibility to select hardware standards including network equipment, printers, servers and desktop and laptop PCs. My responsibilities also have included developing a Citrix terminal services environment, allowing our employees to run heavy applications on our redundant servers and access those applications from anywhere they had a network connection.

My team was also responsible for developing an integrated network management platform using HP Openview and at previous companies, CA Unicenter.
