Global Commodity Manager / Purchasing Operations Manager

Managed $40M in global Benefits, Contact Center and Payroll spend. Developed and led a team of Procurement professionals responsible for Supplier Quality (including supplier performance measurement), Fleet Management, Travel Operations, Training, Audit Coordination, execution of Supplier Events and Procurement Reporting.

Led transition to a “coalition model” for the US Pharmaceutical plan. Resulted in a 100% increase in drug rebates, 10% initial pricing improvement and annual market checks on pricing to mitigate industry increases, typically offsetting 5% of trend.

Delivered and validated $1.8M in savings on $40M in global Benefits spend in 2017.

Negotiated $4M contract to move US and Canada Payroll and Contact Center to a new cloud based platform. Negotiated 40% reduction in implementation cost and a 15% reduction in annual plan cost. Eliminated unfavorable contractual price adjustment mechanism.

Authored all “official” internal and external communications for the Global Purchasing organization. Wrote Supplier Event speeches focused on expectations of suppliers and functioned as Master of Ceremonies at the event. Supplier events typically cover $300M in total spend.

Developed and managed a Global Procurement budget of $10M annually and came in favorable to budget by 5% - 10% each year.

Worldwide Commodity Manager: Direct Materials

Oversaw global supplier relationship management and worldwide sourcing of Specialized Gelatins, Packaging Materials, Raw Materials, Paper and Plastic Resins, Manufacturing Process Equipment and complex Process Filtration media.

Led effort to expand supplier base for gelatin to Asia. Established sources of additional gelatin in Japan and China and worked with manufacturing engineering to accredit the new sources. The effort resulted in expanded options for sourcing gelatins and allowed more aggressive price negotiations, resulting in greater leverage and reduced cost by $180K.

Identified new sources of Packaging near Manaus, Brazil to reduce shipping cost and reduce inventory by $200K.

Expanded Mexican sourcing of packaging to reduce inventory by $250K and reduce price by $80K.
