Ante-partal and post-partal diagnoses may include severe pneumonia, acute asthma attacks, sepsis, and DKA in the peripartum period, peripartum cardiomyopathy, hemorrhage, hypertensive crises, or severe pre-eclampsia.

General surgical patients after any general surgical procedure with complications including acute respiratory failure, hemorrhage, fluid/ electrolyte imbalance, hypotension requiring vasopressor support, and patient complications in gynecologic oncology.
