PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Epstein Creative Group / Rockville, MD 2011 - Present Creative director of a freelance studio specializing in effective branding, marketing, and fundraising initiatives that support nonprofit and mission-driven organizations.

• Guide and oversee the development of results-oriented marketing, educational, and fundraising campaigns. Projects include visually integrated communications pieces for a variety of communications channels that convey each campaign’s primary message to drive stakeholders to the desired action (e.g., increase event attendance, engage new donors, recruit program participants, promote revenue-generating initiatives, etc.).

• Consult on branding and rebranding services. Facilitate discovery sessions, communications audits, research and develop audience personas. Create new identities and corresponding brand messaging. Oversee the development of branded materials including websites, ads, social media graphics, email templates, brochures, postcards, fact sheets, issue briefs, and brand identity style guides.

• Educate C-suite executives, senior management, and boards of directors to effectively convey organizational brand and key messages to internal and external stakeholders.

• Direct workflow of multiple virtual employees to ensure projects remain on task, on a budget, and on deadline.

American Association for Justice / Washington, D.C. 2009 Designed marketing collateral to promote AAJ conferences and services.

• Conceived and designed all event marketing materials, including direct mail pieces, postcards, brochures, web banners, websites, electronic newsletters, and others to increase event attendance and revenue.

• Successfully managed an in-house creative team, vendors, and external freelancers monitoring project progression to ensure successful completion within budget.

DIRECTOR OF CREATIVE SERVICES AND BRAND MANAGEMENT American Society of Training & Development (now called ATD) / Alexandria, VA 2004 - 2008 Built, managed and mentored an award-winning creative services department of 11 employees.

• Art directed, coached, inspired, and motivated the creative team to create and deliver truly remarkable, influential and impactful marketing collateral (print and digital) used to promote ASTD products, services, and events

• Redesigned the ASTD brand, sub-brands, and all associated print and electronic materials. Responsible for designing and launching the new visual identity and spec book for ASTD.

• Created and art directed the brand and corresponding marketing materials for ASTD’s annual international conferences to increase event attendance and revenue.

• Identified and implemented new workflow procedures for processing and tracking jobs through the creative services department, consequently improving communications, increasing efficiency, productivity, and eliminating costly mistakes.

• Ensured all online and print design, creative and production work met standards for quality, budget, and deadlines, and project an image reflective of ASTD’s guiding principles, membership, business requirements, and brand guidelines.

• Worked closely with business unit owners, editorial and technology teams to create positive user experiences that supported member and customer usage, acquisition, and retention.

• Managed creative services team consisting of graphic designers, an art director for T+D Magazine, an illustrator, production managers, and interns. Expanded the creative team from three to eleven, fostering an in-house agency atmosphere.

Northrop Grumman Information Technology / Greenbelt, MD 2001 - 2003 Helped increase product/service sales and overall revenue through design of marketing collateral to promote companies IT solutions and products.
