Professional Experience:

Adventist Health Sonora 2007 to Present

● Direct the Tuolumne County Health Fair blood chemistry division. We draw over 2500 participants within 2 days and test for a variety of chemistries.

● Set up and implemented a school for Clinical Laboratory Scientists affiliated with San Francisco State University. This was started to help reduce the shortage of CLS’s at this laboratory. This program has been in place since 2012 and has retained a number of students who are working in this lab.

● Selected new analyzers for the current lab to provide state of the art equipment which provides for excellent results for the patients and physicians.

● Initiated the Blood Products Committee to review the use of blood products to help ensure the most efficient use of products, member of the following, Policy and Procedure committee, Infection Prevention committee, Medicine Committee and meet with other lab directors to plan Central Laboratory services to serve 15 laboratories.

● Set up Blood Draw station at the new Health Pavilion serving walk-in patients, Infusion Center and clinic patients in the building.

● Implemented a special staffing program for the Emergency Department to help reduce pre-analytic time to ensure the best in patient care.

● Increased efficiency of the department by reorganization of the workflow, restructured the staffing pattern and obtained automated equipment to reduce time to complete testing.

● Revised and rewrote policies and procedures in the laboratory to be prepared for FDA, CAP and Joint Commission.

● Developed 5 year capital plan to meet the needs of a growing laboratory.

● Developed the most comprehensive Quality Assurance and Point of Care program in the Enterprise.

● Implemented daily huddles with staff to discuss issues of the day. Other facilities:

● Managed blood donor center for Autologous and Directed donors.

● Worked with SEIU with a very good relationship..

● Planned and designed and implemented satellite laboratory services in physicians medical complex.

● Designed and equipped three hospital laboratories.

● Implemented a successful marketing program to physicians offices.

● Successfully obtained and implemented a laboratory computer system. Personal:

● Directed staff of various sizes from 40 to 70 FTE’s.

● Development of position descriptions, recruitment, train and supervise professional staff. Management:

● Monitor and control financial performance, identify and implement strategies to reduce costs by controlling utilization along with planning to improve quality of care.

● Direct customer service relationship management, escalations and process improvement.
