2013-2018 HAMON RESEARCH-COTTRELL Inc, Somerville, New Jersey. Reason for leaving: Lack of work lay off.

Senior Structural Designer Responsibilities include, pre contract and post contract plant layout and detail design of pulse jet fabric filters, electrostatic precipitators, ESP to fabric filter conversions and HR-C’s new ReACT system using AutoCad. Evaluating and training on CADWorx 3D software.

Duties also include customer specification review, checking of vendor drawings and other designers. Site visits when required to provide a cost effective and compliant design.

Most recent: Took a four month assignment as the onsite engineering coordinator for a large ESP rebuild at a refinery in California. Duties included coordinating requests for information (RFI) between the owner, owner’s A.E., constructor, HR-C engineering and HR-C field personnel. Also provided over 50 sketches and CAD drawings as needed to support the RFI process.

Senior Lead Designer Hired by Hitachi to help Americanize and standardize their pulse jet fabric filter design obtained in a license agreement with a large German company. This responsibility required close and frequent communication between plant layout, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering as well as product managers and estimating. MicroStation 3D models and 2D designs were used to support and implement this new product line.

2011-2012 DUSTEX CORPORATION, Kennesaw, Georgia Reason for leaving: recruited by Hitachi America Limited.

Senior Mechanical Designer (Contract) Responsible for specification review, pre and post contract arrangement, detail design and bill of materials for modular fabric filter and dry sorbent injection systems using AutoCad software. Systems included fully modularized fabric filters, screw and gravity air conveyors, feeders and absorber vessels with support steel. Coordinated design with structural engineering, electrical engineering, fabrication shops, equipment suppliers and erectors to provide the most cost effective and easily erected system possible.

Senior Plant Design Engineer/Layout Designer (2004-2010) Pre-contract responsibilities included conceptual design and plant layout of both domestic and international utility and industrial wet/dry flue gas desulfurization, fabric filter, selective catalytic reduction and electrostatic precipitator systems using AutoCAD 2D and 3D software. Systems comprised of absorber and reactor vessels, tanks, and large pump, piping and flue gas ductwork. Auxiliary systems consisted of limestone, gypsum and powered lime storage, grinding and conveying. These systems included storage silos, weight belt and rotary feeders, belt, pneumatic and screw conveyors.

Technical supervision and scheduling of other pre-contract designers.

Included in this time period was a temporary relocation to Charlotte, NC to work closely with Duke Energy on their system wide desulfurization program.

1998-1999 BEL-FAB COMPANY, INC. Rogersville, Tennessee (Designer & manufacturer of automated parts material handling systems utilizing Blue Steel Conveyors as well as Powered Conveyors).

Project Engineer/Senior Designer Responsible for specification review, material and labor take-offs in the development of proposals for automated parts handling systems. CADD duties included producing shop assembly and detail drawings. Project engineering responsibilities included working closely with customers to maintain delivery schedules, expedite material, component orders and schedule shop loading. Mechanical Designer (Contract) Responsible for specification review, material selection, arrangement, detail design and bill of materials for food grade conveying systems. Followed design into fabrication to provide quality control. Systems included belt, vibratory and pack off conveyors, bucket elevators and storage systems. Customers included Nabisco, Lays and Reynolds Tobacco. Reason for leaving: Contract Assignment Finished recruited by Bel-Fab Company.

1996-1997 ABB ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS, Knoxville, Tennessee

Senior Engineering/Designer Pre-contract responsibilities include conceptual design and plant layout of utility and industrial wet\dry flue gas desulfurization, fabric filter, selective catalytic reduction and electrostatic precipitator systems using AutoCAD software. Systems comprised of absorber and reactor vessels, tanks, and large pump, piping and flue gas ductwork. Contract duties include piping arrangements, mechanical and structural design drawings including fly ash pneumatic conveying systems and 3-D component design for R&D projects. Reason for leaving: Economic layoff, took contract assignment with Smalley Manufacturing CO.

1995-1996 BYERLEY CONSTRUCTION, Morristown, Tennessee

Assistant Project Manager/Estimator Responsible for specification review and conformance, material and labor take-offs in the estimating phase and project management in the building phase of small to medium commercial construction projects. Also developed computerized cost tracking spreadsheets and coordinated the purchase and implementation of accounting hardware and software. Reason for leaving: Recruited by ABB Environment Systems in the new office in Knoxville, TN.

Retrofit Projects: Specification reviews, site inspections and filed studies to determine extent of interference with placement of new equipment. Also included preliminary conceptual layouts, economic studies and final layout for feasibility and pricing Projects included: rebuilding of flue gas ductwork, FGD absorbers, recycle spray sections, recycle pumps and piping. Also relocated to the Architectural and Engineering Office in Philadelphia, PA for three months to follow a proposal into the contract stage and prepare general arrangement drawing on large fast track wet scrubber project.

Owner/Partner Coordinated and supervised subcontractors and did trim and finish work on residential construction. Did custom design and drafting for pre-build customers. Reason for leaving: Company closed and was recruited by ABB Environment Systems who had bought out Combustion Engineering, Environmental Systems Division.
