Medical Assistant
Served as a team player for a busy, retail walk-in clinic located inside of Wal-Mart, known as the Care Clinic. My daily duties consisted of scheduling appointments, accepting co-payments, verifying insurance, rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, performing POC, and send out lab specimens, quality controls, supply management, eScreen drug screening, patient referrals, and patient outreach. When necessary, assisting with pap smears, physical exams, visual acuity exams. Also, updating CPT codes for billing, sending out prescriptions. Our rapid in-house labs were performed on the following machines: CLINITEK Status+, Afinion AS100, Cholestech LDX, HemoPoint H2, Sofia, MicroTymp3.
2014 – 2015 Lisa Medwedeff, M.D., P.A. – Internal Medicine Back Office Medical Assistant
I assisted as a back office medical assistant for two physicians. Responsibilities included: rooming patients, obtaining vitals, verifying medications, electronically prescribing medication refills, calling patients with laboratory results, rapid in house labs, administering intramuscular injections, performing EKGs, Autonomic balance and accelerated photoplethysmography testing, urinalysis, spirometry, ear irrigation, entering all data into EMR (Aprima and E-Clinical Works) for documentation, amd stocking exam rooms. Sleep Study Coordinator/Medical Assistant/Front Office Medical Assistant Demonstrated proficiency in taking patient medical histories and vital signs,as well as performing venipunctures, injections and charting information in electronic health records system. Daily duties consisted of: processing refill request, keeping up to date medical supplies and drug samples, submitting lab work, updating CPT codes for billing, prescription writing, performing randomized urine drug screening, ensuring the sanitation and maintenance of all exam rooms and equipment.
