Broke national news with the Pelican Institute for Public Policy on the number of oil rigs that left the Gulf of Mexico after the federal government imposed a moratorium on drilling in response to the explosion of a British Petroleum (BP) oil well in April 2010. Also acquired legal documents that showed the backlog for oil drilling permits was much higher than what had been officially reported.

Worked with the Rhode Island Center for Freedom and Prosperity in 2012 to expose plans to convert the state’s health care exchange into a “dependency portal” that links health care benefits with other social welfare programs. Also reported on Rhode Island’s push for “sustainable development” in partnership with federal agencies.

Investigated the IRS targeting of non-profit free market education organizations for Watchdog.org in 2013 and reported on how this targeting impacted the application process for non-profit tax status. Appeared on Glenn Beck’s Fox News Program to discuss a series of investigative reports into ACORN that appeared in the Washington Examiner.

Broke national news with the Washington Examiner on the rising liabilities within the pension plans of the 20 largest unions in the U.S. in a series of reports published through 2009-2012. Contrary to what was reported to rank-and-file members, several of the funds were considered “endangered” or in “critical” condition, according to government records.

Exposed and publicized an Inspector General’s report from the Department of Homeland Security that showed 40,000 illegal aliens from countries “Other Than Mexico,” (OTMs), were apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol between Oct. 2003 and June 2004. Subsequent investigations focused attention on those areas of the U.S. Southwest most susceptible to drug cartel activity, human trafficking and illegal immigration.
