BE Final year project : Municipal Solid Waste Management Case Study : M.T.Layout Description:

The amount of degradable and non-degradable waste generated in M.T.Layout area was calculated. The findings of this research contribute to frame policies and program for effective waste reduction and recycle initiatives. Sustainable plan for waste management based on the study was conducted Group Project: Damage detection system for bridges Description:

Study focuses on identification of structural parameters and to record the actual dynamic response of the bridge model with the help of the sensors.The response of the bridge model when it was subjected to dynamic vibrations by magnetic shaker are measured and stored by the accelerometer sensor. In order to determine the acceleration and natural frequencies of the model we used accelerometer ADXL and Arduino UNO board. Numerical modeling for the bridge model is also done with the help of ANSYS Mechanical APDL software. The experiment is repeated for the bridge model by replacing healthy members with damaged members and the response are obtained with the help of data acquisition system. There is reduction in the natural frequency for the damaged structure than that of healthy structure.

M.Tech Thesis: Seismic Retrofitting of a structure for changed functional utility Description:

Construction of a structure over an existing building with different functional utility and requirements may be done by extending the frame or masonry depending on the existing building. In present study, an existing building has been retrofitted for additional storeys and seismic analysis is carried out for the same. Results of seismic analysis revealed the necessity for retrofitting of structure. A review on various types of retrofitting was carried out.Based on the type of failure in the structural members the retrofitting technique was adopted.Steel jacketing for joints is carried out for specified joints and non-linear finite element analysis was carried out to determine the load carrying capacity of joint. Beams under shear and flexural failure was retrofitted using CFRP laminates and non-linear analysis was carried out.Objective of seismic retrofitting was achieved with the FRP application scheme and Steel jacketing adopted in this project.
