As a service assistant at big red, i have multiple responsibilities throughout the day. Some of the duties i perform here include collecting truck mileage on a weekly basis as well as logging and submitting all fuel receipts at the end of every week. I am in charge of completing payroll once a week and making sure it is submitted on time. I am also in charge of the safety programs as well as safety training which includes making sure the safety matrix stays updated, taking detailed minutes during meetings and turning all minutes into isn. A few other daily duties i perform include creating spreadsheet, answering phones, and opening as well as closing work orders.

As a bartender, I deal with around $500 in cash every day, as well as credit card authorizations, and it is my responsibility to count my drawer everyday upon arrival to make sure it is right. Some other responsibilities include stocking and making sure the bar area stays clean the entire shift, greeting customers and Mastering the POS (point-of-sale) system. I am in charge of checking all to go orders before they leave, as well as answering high volume phone lines with customers placing orders while still taking care of a full bar, and a full section. I have learned so much about how to deal with stressful situations and how important it is to stay calm and have patience.

While still employed at Kanpai, I was offered a managing position by my boss, who is the owner of both Kanpai and Umami. Before Opening I was responsible for conducting interviews, hiring for all positions, and successfully training new hires in various positions. Other responsibilities include daily bank deposits, administering manual payroll, and monthly P/L reports. I managed weekly inventory counts of food, beverage, and paper products and then made orders as needed. Another responsibility of mine was creating weekly schedules for both front and back of house staff.

My position here involved greeting customers upon arrival and making sure they have menus and silverware. Also, answering any questions customers may have, telling them any specials we may have and most importantly offering suggestions.
