Murendeni Mberegeni Mashamba

I am a graduate civil engineer from the University of Johannesburg with majors in hydraulics; geotechnical engineering; project management; structural steel and concrete design and urban waste management. I am very hardworking, loyal and reliable and pride myself in my work ethic. I am passionate about structural engineering and based my final year thesis on the investigation of precast elements by using foam concrete and thin spray liner in low cost housing.

I am a great team player and leader; which is evidenced by my role as group leader in the concrete boat race (of which my team took third place overall) and in my position as deputy in my final year design group.

Along with my passion for Civil Engineering, I also possess entrepreneurial skills and enjoy working on projects that effectively translate ideas and techniques into actual business development. I applied these skills in my position as manager of Lwamondo bar lounge in Venda and in so doing, developed a system to ensure the proficient processing of new stock. I revel in challenges which is one of the main reason I studied Civil Engineering, I enjoy the practical aspects of engineering and learning more about the different components that make up the construction industry as a whole. This being said, I firmly believe that I will be a great addition to any team.

In 2011, I entered the concrete boat competition. My group took 3rd place in the category of best constructed concrete boat; this was a big achievement as I was the team/project leader. Our group held first place for the University of Johannesburg as the first and second place winners where from Wits and Pretoria University respectively. We were awarded Bronze medals for a job well done and cash prize of R1000-00 which was shared amongst our group members.

I love cricket and was the captain of my high school cricket team in both grade 11 and 12. I also love soccer as it is our premier sport in South Africa, but it only comes second to cricket for me.
