Sep 2012 – Jan 2015 SR. Supplier Quality Engineer American General Technologies, Santa Barbara, California. Later was assigned to Airbus A350 Horizontal Stabilizer Actuator as project Engineer. (DO-178 and DO-254 programs) Basic duties were interfacing with the customer and the MRJ engineering/design team. Dealt with subcontracted supplier items, schedule, SOW modifications, new scope issues, new business proposals, TIMs, DTC, change orders, design reviews, etc.

July 2007- Nov 2009 Sr. Program Engineer Under contract to BAE Systems, Santa Clara, California. Maintained the cost, schedule and technical performance for a number of IPT’s for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. Projects included CREW 2, FOG, Handstations, Weapon Feed Modifications and others. Maintained technical, schedule, and budgeting for each specific project assigned. Statement of Work (SOW), TIMs, CDR, PDR, SRR, MRBs, USG liaison, RCCA, etc.

Nov 2004 - June 2007 Engineering Consultant Design and development of cables and harnesses. Performed design reviews, verification, test reviews, connector selection, EMI/RFI solutions, and process standards for a key manufacturer (Cicon Engineering) and their customers. (7 month duration) Designed and fabricated an electrical Power Distribution Unit and cabling for a DARPA robotic vehicle for another client. (Northrop Grumman, 12 month duration) Reviewed and wrote in house specifications and processes for helicopter gas turbine engine assembly RR250 family. (Helipower) (9 month duration).

Jul 1999 – Oct 2004 Supplier Development Engineer Provided technical expertise and leadership in selecting and maintaining subcontractor quality performance for LAV and Stryker vehicles. Verified subcontractor requirements vs. customer requirements. Projects included RWS (CROWS ), Fire Control, vehicle controls, etc. Duties included subcontract leadership and interface to the program office, prepare the Statement of Work (SOW), selection of vendors and subcontractors, insure engineering processes are being used, drawing review, First Article Inspection, PPAP, DFMA analysis, verification of contract requirements, and aid vendors in interfacing with various company disciplines. Tasks included, reviewing costs, MRB authority, lead supplier audits, monitoring supplier quality performance, improve supplier performance (SPC), source selection, ensure suppliers manufacturing and quality systems meet contract requirements, investigation of problems, determine root cause, and implement corrective action (RCCA).

Oct 1993 - June 1999 Department Enigineering Manager, Supervision of technology and 35 personnel for the electromechanical aspects of the fire control integration and design efforts of all projects pertaining to this division for tactical turret and vehicle combinations. Duties included proposals, customer interface, vendor selection, staff issues relating to the business development, selection of personnel to projects, support to purchasing, support preparing Statement of Work (SOW), hiring of new personnel, appraisals, monitoring of costs (WAs), and new products. Also involved in design reviews, process analysis, interfacing with other departments, government liaison, MRBs, and investigate problem areas.

Jul 1991 - Sep 1993 Senior Project Engineer (Armament Business Unit) Electro-mechanical engineering lead and engineer of record for Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) turret for fire control integration and stowage of related equipment. Provided human factor design for mounting of displays and controls. Responsible from the proposal to the delivery of the final product. Provided the technical effort for one-of and production turrets. Duties included support to system schematic development, subcontract engineering administration, manpower loading, scheduling, quoting, interdepartmental liaison, support to customer/vendor meetings/reviews, task leadership of a group of engineers, and many change proposals. Prepared and maintained a standard cabling design standard for vehicle military equipment.

May 1988- June 1991 Senior Project Engineer (Armament Businees Unit) Engineer of Record for the electro-mechanical packaging of an electronic control unit, loader display unit, gun control unit, and cabling for the AC-130U Gunship Program. Responsible for the electro-mechanical aspects of the proposal, design, fabrication, and delivery of the engineering development and full scale development units leading towards full production. Duties included support to system schematic development, subcontract engineering administration, manpower loading, scheduling, interdepartmental liaison, customer/vendor meetings, and task leadership of a group of engineers and design personnel, and various change proposals.

June 1986 - Apr 1988 Senior Project Engineer (Electromechanical Packaging Group) Responsible for the design, fabrication, assembly and documentation for military products (vetronics). These products were weapon controls, display systems, computers, related controllers, and cabling. Most of these products were of an advanced nature with many of them leading to further proposals and other contracts. Duties included project management, all the way to the delivered unit. Also involved in the keyboard/display design and subcontract liaison of the C-17 cockpit LRUs. Became the human factors engineer for the project.

Nov 1984 - May 1986 Project Engineer (Mechanical Engineering Group) Responsible for the design, fabrication, assembly, and documentation for electro/optic/mechanical products. These products included infrared thermal sights (FLIR), vehicle electronic display systems, and various vehicle sight systems. Provided project leadership which included maintaining the project on schedule, estimates of manpower, supervision of all mechanical personnel involved in the project, conducted impact studies for recommended design changes, close liaison with project management, and foreseeing potential problem areas. Also responsible for the training of two associate engineers for the group.

Feb 1979 - Nov 1984 ElectroMechanical Design Engineer (Automotive Group) Conceptual and preliminary product development of electromechanical system packaging. Project responsibility from concept through hardware delivery, which includes thermal, vibration and shock management, connection and cabling, weight, structural analysis, installation, trade off studies, and supervision of detail design, prototype fabrication leading to a high production design, and interface with various departments. Was also involved in qualification, environmental testing, vendor interface, manpower and time scheduling, reports, and product field returns. Projects involved with were power supplies, converters, computers, displays, sensors, and related test equipment for computer controlled transmission, computer engine controls, electric car, dynamometer facility for automobiles and trucks. Also involved in design of electronic assemblies for Light Armored Vehicle (LAV).
