Project Specialist Quality at Thermal Engineering (Royston) - various thermal covers for RR engines;

Senior Aerospace Thermal Engineering is a leading aerospace components manufacturer, supplying aero engine and airframe OEMs and their Tier 1 suppliers globally. Jan 2010 - March 2012

The scope of the assignment was to inspect all manufactured thermal covers for Trent engines. For any part that is inspected with CMM machine, a particular check that verifies any red non- conformances within the CMM report had to be suitably identified and mitigated via a concession and/or a DAR.

This was to verify conformity to SABRe requirements, AS 9100 quality management standard, Engineering standards and specifications. Where non-conformances occurred, a PIR

(Performance Improvement Request) would be raised. The supplier would do a 48-hour containment and accept the finding. The parts are quarantined until a root-cause analysis is carried out, PIR closed and continuous improvement is put in place and followed through. Other effects and results of the PIR are Definition Alteration Request (DAR), Concessions (CAT2 or 3) and training of production of personnel. Closure of PIRs results in training of personnel on the requirements of the customer. I also ensured that there was a completed FAI (First Article Inspection) report in place for any component that had been manufactured. Key Achievements
