Projects

Project Title: Electric car with four wheel drive. Jan, 2016 – May 2016

Description: Design and developed a four wheel powered electric car with manual and remote operation. This vehicle is effective in keeping a check on carbon emission, attains a maximum speed of 20 to 25 mph with a load capacity of 50lbs. Ability to work in all terrain and is highly cost effective. Designed the frame work and electric component assembly using Solid Works.

Integrated the electrical components - motors, transmitter and receiver and the motor controllers. Installed the electric and mechanical components aiding in the vehicle stability.

Developed the steering mechanism and integrated it with the vehicle design, facilitating it to steer within a ten feet radius.

Project Title: Grid interconnection of renewable energy sources with power quality improvement features. July 2013 – Nov, 2013

Description: This project dealt with the control strategy for achieving maximum benefits from grid-interfacing inverters when installed in 3-phase 4-wire distribution systems. The active and reactive powers are compensated using shunt active power filters. The design enables us to supply the excessive power demand by the alternative energy sources to the power grid. This new control concept was demonstrated with extensive MATLAB/Simulink simulation methods.

Designed the 3-phase 4-wire distribution system using MATLAB with shunt active power filters to improve the power quality of the system.

Simulated the design in MATLAB and verified the current waveforms before and after the increase in power demand.
