Responsibilities: Established and implemented the safety and health program for a large manufacturing facility and several smaller businesses. This included an evaluation and approval of every chemical brought onto the site based upon intended application and potential exposure scenario; developing work procedures, emergency procedures, fire prevention plans, personal and engineering controls to minimize potential exposure; conducted air monitoring for potential toxic airborne contaminants; establishment of educational programs and training for staff and contract employees with regards to safety; and the development of an Industrial Hygiene Program. Implemented injury prevention programs and trained staff in ergonomics and the importance of a comfortable work station.

Responsible for providing professional industrial hygiene and occupational and environmental health and safety consulting services to a wide-ranging customer base, including large and small manufacturing, business, government, and industry. Areas of focus incorporate exposure monitoring, OSHA/regulatory compliance, workplace hazard control, industrial hygiene and environmental surveys, hazardous materials consulting, and risk analysis. Investigated several jobsites for litigation cases, including workers’ compensation cases and toxic tort cases. Reviewed and followed up on all claims and kept records for each claim. Discussed worker restrictions, if needed. Held trouble-shooting conferences to prevent future accidents. Perform safety audits and accident investigations and submit all required documentation. Perform reconstructive exposure assessments for a variety of chemical agents, using data analysis and modeling software. Conduct indoor air quality assessments. Participate in Phase I environmental site assessments and industrial hygiene exposure assessments. Research current and historical occupational health and safety regulations and guidelines. Research and apply a broad range of scientific literature for consultation and expert support. Other responsibilities include project management assistance, report preparation, client interface, and business development. In general, the technical areas covered by the EHS management projects I have undertaken follow regulatory requirements as mandated by OSHA, EPA and delegated state programs for these agencies. Specific technical areas for these projects include Hazard Communication, Emergency Response, Asbestos, Lead, PCBs, Indoor Air Quality, Underground/Aboveground Storage Tanks, Hazardous Wastes, Air and Water Pollution Controls and Site Assessments/ Audits. Occupational Exposure Assessments

- Assisted in design and performed several controlled exposure assessment studies to evalu at e asbestos fiber release from commercial products.

- Designed and carried out a project which simulated environmental fate of lead in groundwater. This involved sampling for lead in water and analyzing samples using flame atomic absorption equipment.

- Provided technical support during the inspection of the ex-USS Arthur W. Radford (DD 968) for the presence of manufactured items suspected of containing PCBs and assisted with the development of a written PCB sampling and remediation plan. DD 968 has been approved by various Federal agencies for reefing off of the Atlantic Coast of the United States. Program Development

- Developed and prepared chemical handling and storage program documents for the US EPA Facility Safety and Health Manual. This document addressed chemical usage and handling, proper storage, facility design requirements, employee training, and program evaluation.

- Prepared, reviewed, and revised material safety data sheets (MSDSs) and container labels for various industrial products. MSDSs and labels were prepared, reviewed, or revised to standards consistent with OSHA, ANSI, and the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of hazard communication.

- Trained staff and conducted ergonomic workstation evaluations for at least three companies. Suggested and implemented changes. Reorganized and arranged employee work stations and followed up with each employee.

- Designed and prepared Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) program auditing guidelines used for assessing IAQ management programs and practices.

- Developed a written respiratory protection program for a biotechnology research firm that produced nutritional supplements from cultivated fungi and microalgae.

- Created written safety and health plans for small and large companies engaged in a variety of businesses and industries. Developed injury prevention programs for various companies and implemented them.
