Jan 2006 – March 2013: Sav-on Pharmacy Technician

-As a retail Pharmacy Technician my duties include filling orders for medications with speed and accuracy for the pharmacist to check prior to delivery.

-Ensuring proper storage and security of medications dispensed to patients.

-Perform all necessary functions on the pharmacy computer system which should include: input patient / physician/ drug information in computer registry, and patient/ physician profile inquiry, medications, pharmacy reports/ fill lists, printing labels, and billing inquiry.

-Insurance billing for over 2,000 different insurances; included Tricare, Champus, Blue Cross / Blue Shield, and Caremark.

-Prescription drug return of all expired / recalled medication, following strict deadlines and accurate packing specifications

-Training and knowledge in preparing sterile products, which may include intravenous solutions and irrigations, standard protocols and formulas under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, infection control procedures to include aseptic technique and document all quality control measures (hood cleaning, room cleaning, filter changes, and temperature logs), and follows all applicable policies and procedures related to IV Preparation.

- Routing questionable prescription to the pharmacist for completion.

- Make out-bound calls and faxing the physicians for prescription clarification, substitution, and formulary changes.

-Answering in-bound calls and routing them to the appropriate department.

- Screening prescription and faxing them to the provider for clarification. Screening of prescriptions include drug to drug interaction, therapeutic duplication, missing doctor/office information on controls substances, ICD-9 codes, drug name, quantity and directions.

-Use Medication Dispensing Machine: Restock medication drawers, verify inventory, clean and maintain machine, recalibration of weights, trouble shoot and fix machine errors that did not require specialist.
