● Worked on several projects involving the use of the Netezza data warehouse appliance: provided technology assessment, system architecture analysis, and purchase recommendations; developed data warehouse applications; and advised Wall Street hedge funds with competitive analysis of the Data Warehouse Appliance market, especially as regards to Netezza, Vertica, Red Shift, Azure SQL Data Warehouse and Teradata IntelliFlex.

● Responsible for overall design, development and delivery of NextGen, a Software as a Service (SaaS) application deployed on the Microsoft Azure virtual machine, which enables health care payers to quickly and inexpensively manage Medicare Advantage health care member plans. Data Architecture included a “legacy uplift” data lake environment to move all operational capability to a common code base and a data warehouse application to distribute such key subject areas as Member, Provider, Claims, and Finance to Business Intelligence analysts and Data Scientists. The application was deployed via a Microsoft HD Insight Data Lake to MS Azure VM using MS Azure Data Warehouse and SQL Server 2014. Embarcadero ER/Studio was the database design tool, Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services was the data integration environment, Master Data Services was the MDM tool, with MS Power BI for self-service data exploration and Tableaus Software for analytical reporting and data visualization.

Enterprise Data Architect

● Responsible for overall design, development and delivery of EPIC BILL, a Big Data project integrating EPIC Clarity clinical and financial data, PeopleSoft compensation data, and industry reference data sources and standards such as HL7. This data warehouse application focused on measuring efficiencies in the hospital environment, including subject areas such as claims, payments, procedure service mix, and physician compensation calculation. The project was delivered on IBM Netezza PureData System for Analytics appliance, with SSIS as the ETL tool. Spotfire was the reporting tool. Over 50 stored procedures were migrated from SQL Server 2012 and refactored to run on Netezza. Standardized reports and self-service data discovery was provided via Cognos. Prototyped a private cloud solution which included Cloudera Enterprise Data Hub and Analytic DB, MySQL Aurora, Hive and Spark. CA Erwin was the database design tool and development was done via bash command line scripts and the use of the Aginity Workbench tool.

● Worked with top company management from the MGH Physicians Billing Office, eCare ( the Partners EPIC delivery team), and the DevOps group to devise strategy for overall enterprise data warehouse design, technology evaluation and vendor/tool selection, formulation of enterprise data standards and best practices approach, MDM strategy, and database design and development, including data integration strategy .Worked extensively with IBM pre-sales engineering team to insure that Netezza best practices were observed and that implementation was customized for the specific MGH environment. Enterprise Data Architect

● Responsible for overall design of V10, a Computer-assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) next generation SaaS platform, using RESTful services, Web API, JSON, HTML 5, Master Data Services, ESRI ArcGIS, and SQL Server 2012. Prototyped public cloud SaaS solution with MS Azure SQL Server 2014 database and .Net Framework and MongoDB. Data model was generated using ER/Studio by Embarcadero, partially based on HL7. Infosphere was the MDM tool, Power BI was the reporting tool, and Tableau software was used for data visualization. Key focus included creating an Information Architecture to capture the appraisal generation process, including definition of parcels, geospatial characteristics, capture of building and property structures, generation of appraisals, assessments, and handling of abatement requests and exemptions. Queries were generated which mapped ESRI attributes to existing parcels and provided a multi-layered special analysis of applicable demographic, environmental, and economic characteristics.

Determined overall approach, standards and best practices, tool selection, architecture framework, product requirements, development approach, and product roadmap. Requirements were gathered using Agile methodologies, including Sprints, data modeling sessions, and interviews with key stakeholders, and methods for migrating from legacy platform were developed. 8/15 to 5/16 Transitional Data Services

Enterprise Data Architect

● Responsible for development, design and data transformation for Transition Manager, a SaaS workflow management application which manages data center migrations. The tool was both used internally, and licensed as an application used by most of the largest IT consulting firms in the world. Key focus included areas such as asset inventory management, move plans based on dependency analyses, and determination of differences between new and existing assets. This application was initially deployed in a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and Python) environment and then repurposed to AWS (Amazon Web Services) using RDS (Relational Database Services) with AWS Aurora, and Red Shift for analytical reporting, with a JSON RESTful services. Database design was developed using CA Erwin. Difference analysis and incremental loads were implemented via Pentaho Data Integration (aka “Kettle”) transformations and jobs. The product has a custom MDM tool built into it. Salesforce was the CRM tool and Spotfire was the reporting tool.

● Worked with top management from TDS, senior IT management from clients and license holders, including executive sponsors, chief architects, and product management group, to determine define TM application functionality, tool selection, database design, data movement strategies, Master Data Management strategy and implementation, and change management approach. Managed a team of developers, database administrators, DevOps system managers, project managers and business analysts. Development was managed using agile methodologies, facilitated by architectural discussions, white papers and specifications, data modeling sessions and ETL design reviews.

8/14 to 7/15 Sabre Hospitality (Hotels) Solutions

Enterprise Data Architect

● Responsible for overall development and database design for GEM, a cloud-based SaaS hotel reservation and property management system. GEM used partitioned database technologies to support ecommerce web services, which was compliant with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Development involved integrating new functionality to an existing reservation system, including Master Data Management functionality using Infosphere and a JSON messaging API. The application was deployed via Oracle Exadata 12c database instances for OLTP and MicroStategy for reporting, and interfaced with Sabre SAP implementation.

● Worked with top management from parent Sabre organization and Sabre Hospitality team, including executive sponsors, chief architects, and product management group, to determine standards and best practices, development approach and methods, and data requirements. Development was managed using agile methodologies, including use of epics, stories and tasks. Data requirements were determined via analysis of user interface, profiling of existing databases, and data modeling sessions with key stakeholders. Managed a team of developers, database administrators, business analysts and coordinated releases with project management team. Application was deployed via Web Services using IBM’s Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Bluemix cloud technologies, MySQL, Tableau for reporting, and a partitioned database strategy. CA Erwin was the modeling tool.

3/14 to 8/14 Massachusetts Department of Revenue

Enterprise Data Architect

● Responsible for overall scope, methods, standards and development approach for the Enterprise Information Services SaaS application, an enterprise master data hub which delivered, via an enterprise service bus, unified messaging across all state departments and business units, as well as for individual residents and businesses. EIS is a technology independent model of key enterprise data, and the first stages included generating messages for the Massachusetts Department of Revenue and Registry of Motor Vehicles, whose applications included client-server and mainframe applications. These messages allow for quick response to questions such as “Is an individual or organization current in all its taxes?”, and “Does an individual have outstanding driving tickets?” The database model was created in CA Erwin, the database target was Oracle 11g, OBIEE was the reporting tool, and message application was TIBCO Rendezvous.

● Worked with top management from Massachusetts Department of Revenue, Registry of Motor Vehicles, and enterprise modeling group to create an approach to gather key enterprise information. Collaborated to create a standards and best practices specification, devised approaches to applying business rule constraints, and came up with database application design, including Data Model, SOA messaging specifications, MDM approach, ETL Strategy, Source to Target Mappings and creation of an Enterprise Metadata Repository.

7/13 to3/14 Deloitte Consulting

Enterprise Data Architect

● Responsible for delivery for Periscope's SaaS solution, BuySpeed, for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, especially regarding migration of legacy procurement system. Devised canonical messages, authored source to target mappings, ETL coding and MDM implementation via PL/SQL, and coordinated with testing and validation and verification. Used CA Erwin as the modeling tool, Oracle 11g as the source database and SQL Server 2012 as the target database, ETL was performed via views in Oracle developed using Toad for Oracle.

● Worked with top management from the Commonwealth or Massachusetts Operational Services Division, Deloitte, Accenture and Periscope to develop approach for delivery of the BuySpeed application, including phased releases, functional mapping, and data integration and MDM strategy. Enterprise Data Architect

● Responsible for a series of initiatives to implement sound Data Management capabilities for Harvard Management Company, which manages a $30 billion endowment for Harvard University. These included Big Data initiatives and Predictive Analytics solutions. Created a series of applications to increase effectiveness in measuring and improving Risk Management. Used Bitemporal Data methods to optimize trading desk activities and provide greater insight into Portfolio Manager performance relative to benchmarks for a series of financial products including Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Property, Agriculture, Venture Capital, Stocks, Bonds and Derivatives. Used CA Erwin as the data modeling tool, Sybase as the target database, Salesforce as the CRM tool, SSAS as the reporting too, Kettle as the ETL tool, reporting via Power BI and MicroStrategy, and R was the Big Data analytical tool.

● Worked with top company management to devise strategy for overall enterprise data warehouse design, technology evaluation and vendor/tool selection, formulation of enterprise data standards and best practices approach, MDM strategy, and database design and development, including data integration strategy. Created a consensus around best approach to Bitemporal Data, via presentations, development of specifications and creation of use cases. ● Responsible for overall enterprise data architecture, technology evaluation and recommendation, standards and practices, and database design and development. ● Responsible for design and delivery of Business Intelligence solution which provided analytical insight into Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Purchase Order financial domains, with Oracle Financials and PeopleSoft 9.0 as source systems. Worked with senior members of the Harvard Data Warehouse Group to evaluate potential options, including packaged solutions, third party development proposals, and in-house development, and used this to recommended best approach.

● Captured business requirements, determined reporting needs, profiled source systems, and worked with business users to create an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) application using Kimball Star Schema methods. Created consensus on database design with 15 star schemas and 30 dimensions, modeled using CA Erwin. Authored source to target mappings, designed semantic layer and determined reporting needs. Additionally, defined physical characteristics such as storage, indexing strategy, partitioning and tablespaces. Created project plan and determined resource requirements. Enterprise Data Architect

● Responsible for system architecture and database design for a Pay for Performance (P4P) data warehouse which analyzed clinical records, claims, prescription data and electronic health records (EHR) to assess the quality of patient care using metrics as defined in HEDIS specifications. Worked with senior members of the patient quality group to determine Business Intelligence requirements, which were delivered via an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) application (based on Kimball Star Schema methods), which used sophisticated metadata strategies and complex, modular procedural logic to satisfy the complex reporting requirements using reusable software components. CA Erwin was used as the database design tool.

● Defined optimal system architecture, created database design, devised Data Quality strategy, created Data Governance processes, devised indexing strategy, and physical storage allocation. Enterprise Data Architect

● Responsible for overall data modeling efforts, including maintenance and upgrades to a 300 table Master Data Management (MDM) Hub and design of canonical messages in a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) which used an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) to integrate an Oracle Retail implementation with over 150 existing enterprise applications covering a wide range of business functionality, including product lifecycle management, demand forecasting, and supply chain integration which was compliant with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). CA Erwin was the database design tool. Created overall strategy for data cleansing, including the use of Infosphere and the design of foundation data structures to capture and distribute cleansed Master Data throughout the enterprise. Worked with senior members of implementation team (Wipro), key business representatives, and enterprise architecture group, to ensure successful application integration, and to support Business Intelligence requirements. Created Data Governance processes to ensure data quality and correct representation of business concepts.

● Created enterprise data model, captured detailed business requirements, including definition of different product types, identified and remedied data gaps, designed source to target mappings, and created set of canonical messages to implement real-time data integration. The application was delivered on Oracle 11g, ETL was performed via Informatica, reporting was done with Cognos, cleansing was done using Siperian, messages were distributed via Tibco, Salesforce was the CRM tool, and Oracle Retail was the ERP product which was being implemented contemporaneously.

Enterprise Data Architect

● Responsible for delivery of Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) enhancements to provide supply chain reporting to manage field engineers’ repair jobs for EMC storage hardware at customer sites. These supply chain tasks were implemented via a third party workforce MDM hub application from Servigistics. Worked with senior members of supply chain team to determine reporting requirements which were delivered via an Executive Dashboard Business Intelligence application (using Kimball Star Schema methods) which integrated results from Servigistics with data from SAP ERP and Salesforce. CA Erwin was the database design tool.

● Created star schema database design, source to target mappings, ETL Process flow diagrams, reporting specifications and metadata layer definitions, and database scripts which included indexing, tablespace creation, and physical storage allocation.. The application was delivered on Oracle 11g, ETL was developed using Informatica Power Mart, and reporting was done via OBIEE. Managed team of developers, business analysts, ETL developers, report writers, and DBAs.

Enterprise Data Architect

● Worked with C-level executives to provide business intelligence capabilities via Executive Dashboards delivered from an Enterprise Data Warehouse. Provided actionable insights into operational efficiencies, including call center metrics, service level agreement management, and coordination between revenue forecasts, head count projections, and productivity measurements.

● Created Kimball Star Schema design for 45 tables, ETL and Reporting Specifications and made technology purchase recommendations. ETL was performed by SSIS and SSAS/SSRS were the reporting tools. Enterprise Data Architect

● Responsible for the delivery of the Basel II Data Warehouse, a Business Intelligence application (using Kimball Star Schema methods) which is used to monitor the risks of the bank, especially relating to assessing the creditworthiness of financial counterparties. State Street bank has over $200 billion assets under management. Provided measurement on detailed and aggregated exposures, data quality metrics, market risk, regulatory and analytic capital amounts, and counterparty ratings for 14 categories of equity, fixed income and derivative products. Involved understanding sophisticated risk analytic models (including Value At Risk models) and capturing and presenting this information in an optimized dimensional data warehouse model.

● Performed gap analysis against IBM M1 metadata model for financial services. The application was delivered in Oracle 10g with 75 tables, and included physical optimizations such as allocation across tablespaces, partitioning strategy, and index optimization.
