Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL/EFL) to adult international military personnel,

utilizing the American Language Course (ALC), a comprehensive, multilevel program developed

to provide a language curriculum for an extremely diverse international military population.

Utilize not only general English, but also military topics highlighting language usage and expressions military personnel will encounter.

Coordinate and carry out instructional activity based on a written lesson plan and a unique plan

of instruction (POI) that I prepare weekly for each course.

Evaluate student performance. Ensure instruction is effective by assigning /reviewing daily homework and monitoring student learning center, library, lab, testing and other activities.

Closely monitor tardy & absent students; maintain academic records on paper and computer.

Ensure required course objectives are met as scheduled. Promptly advise management of actual / potential problems or changes to plans.

Document, diagnose and advise supervisor of students’ academic problems. Ensure that assessments and recommendations are academically appropriate and in accordance with organizational aims, goals and established procedures.

SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

* Served as director of Instituto Cultural Peruano Norteamericano (ICPNA), in Trujillo, Peru, a school

funded by the US and Peruvian governments to teach English as a foreign language. Hired, trained and supervised 12-15 EFL instructors, developed and modified 12 levels of Eng. language courses and, at various times, taught syntax, pronunciation and grammar from Beginning to Advanced English..

On a number of occasions have made professional recommendations for improvement of curriculum design, training materials, classroom delivery and program management.

With supervisory concurrence, have modified and augmented instructional materials by creating supplemental exercises and activities and by expanding my own plan of instruction or lesson plan.

On my own initiative, with supervisory approval, I have tailored or adjusted course materials by integrating current audio, video and computer software delivery systems to support educationally sound and accepted techniques of ESL/EFL instruction.

In business, I led an international sales force for an $800 million financial company. Trained, and supervised the business development activities of 3000 sales professionals in Central and South America, Taiwan and Indonesia. Prepared and delivered motivational presentations in Spanish and/or English to large audiences on multiple topics. RESULTS: Restored confidence and enthusiasm and led sales force to a $5 million increase in production, setting a new 12-month corporate sales record.
