Industrial Engineering (Project Management) Intern Tesla Motors, Inc. – Fremont, CA (January 2018 – May 2018)
• Worked collaboratively with engineering leads to set goals and track deliverable of Tesla’s Material Flow Engineering team.
• Managed Engineering requirements between Supply Chain and Purchasing to facilitate material planning of 6 Body In White (BIW) and General Assembly (GA) projects.
• Monitored the installation and commissioning of three Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) of $152 million in Fremont factory. Identified 8 major issues/ errors with the GA ASRS system, root caused and provided solutions to close on all errors to make it ready for production.
• Analysed the breakdown rate of pallets and calculated ROI of a depalletizing robotic cell to help achieve annual savings of $180,000. Worked closely with vendor to provide the process flow and system capacity to integrate with Tesla's manufacturing systems.
• Designed a case loading workstation in AutoCAD and FlexSim for manual breakdown of boxes from supplier pallets. Calculated the throughput rate, storage capacity, equipment footprint required for operation.
• Managed vendor on-boarding process and improved the current process by reducing the non-value-added time of 4 weeks.
• Ensured ergonomics and safety to modify 18% of identified non-compliant material handling and delivery methods.
• Identified 92 errors in Plan For Every Part (PFEP) and close down 42 of the identified ones. Distribution & Supply Chain Intern ABCO HVACR Supply + Solutions – New York City, NY (June 2017 – August 2017)
• Assisted the company to implement a digital warehouse management system from a paper-based environment at their DC.
• Designed and executed the inbound/ outbound operation plans by reducing the lead time by 10%.
• Performed time studies of current workflow, overhauled inventory allocation and facility usage to restructure it by applying lean processes of 5S, Kanban, and work scheduling.
• Created fishbone diagrams and process map of current inbound operations in Microsoft Visio. Performed ABC analysis and relocated the slow-moving inventory to other branches which had less space constraint.
• Prepared documentation and instruction sheets for the newly implemented inventory tracking system ‘TWL’ and also trained the workers to use the new system.
• Generated performance and quality improvement sheets in Excel and used VBA macros for refining the raw system reports. Project Engineering & Management Intern Larsen and Toubro Limited – Vadodara, India (May 2014 – June 2014)
• Assisted in the execution of Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) for Egyptian Refining Company. Controlled the project flow and ensured that deliverable milestones are met. Monitored and evaluated the productivity of planning for phase 3.
• Assisted in the validation of process flow diagrams and level 3 scheduling. Coordinated with subcontracting companies to review the current designs and updated the changes as per the standard and legal practices. ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Business Analytics (September 2017 – December 2017)
• Predictive Analysis (Booking Prediction for Airbnb): Designed a multiclass classification model to predict where a new guest will book their first travel destination using R and Excel. This model helps Airbnb to decrease the average time to first booking, and better forecast demand. Prescriptive Analysis (Pricing models for eBay motors): Developed a models to recommend a price range to users selling their cars on eBay and predicted the duration for which a posting will stay on eBay. Used R, Excel, and Tableau to create outcomes which help increase the revenue of the e-commerce website by increasing sales. Supply Chain Engineering – Dollar Tree (January 2017 – May 2017)
• Developed supply chain network design and product content requirements for a Dollar Tree window and door alarm. Designed network successfully decreased 19% of the landed cost per product. Analysed the demand to forecast the store requirements. Lean Process Improvement – NYU Bern Dibner Library (January 2017 – May 2017)
• Analysed the value stream map of the inter-library book loan process at NYU. Reduced the lead time of book arrival by 23% by eliminating the non-value-added activities using lean principles of 5S, Kanban, and Just-In-Time. Defined the DMAIC process of the library book lending and suggested the improvements.
