Resume:

Dear Sir/Madam:

I am a highly experienced litigator and most recently the head of the Labor and Employment practice section of the City of Cleveland, Ohio’s Law Department. I left the Department re- cently in excellent standing in order to do some traveling, pursue better opportunities, and to relocate to Seattle. I am a member of the Washington (Bar No. 48929) and Ohio state ( Bar No. 0037641) bars in good standing. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to interview for this position.

I am 60 years old, an avid runner, in excellent physical health, and at the peak of my profes- sional performance skills.

In my most recent position I represented City management in federal and state court litiga- tion; in negotiating collective bargaining agreements; handling Union grievances through fi- nal and binding arbitration proceedings and post hearing briefing; and responding to charges of unlawful employment practices filed with the EEOC and Ohio Civil Rights Commission

(“OCRC”). Responding to these charges required conducting investigations, the production of documents and information, and the drafting and submission of position statements. I also regularly participated in conducting pre-disciplinary proceedings including providing advice and counsel to management regarding discipline. My position also required responding to unfair labor practice charges filed with the State Employment Relations Board which re- quired, similar to EEOC and OCRC charges, conducting investigations, the production of documents and information, and the drafting and submission of position statements. I also handled responding to subpoenas and general requests for public records. I was a partner for fifteen (15) years at the law firm Miller Goler where I practiced primarily insurance defense, commercial litigation, and class action defense. Twice in my career I have been retained as special counsel by the state of Ohio’s Attorney General to defend the state in class actions. During my final year at Miller Goler, I defended the state of Ohio in the largest class action ever prosecuted in the history of the state related to the state’s Bureau of Workers’ Compensation’s group employer premium rating system. Previously in my career I defended the state as special counsel in all litigation, including a class action, arising from a riot in 1993 at the state’s maximum security prison in Lucasville, Ohio.

Regarding the one gap in my resume, I left Miller Goler at the end of 2011 to recover from complications following surgery to correct a sports injury and to provide humanitarian ser- vices overseas. Following completion of the mission, I accepted an offer to join the City of Cleveland Law Department.

Please feel free to contact the managing partner of Miller Goler, Steve Miller, at 216-***-**** or 216-***-****, for a reference. If you require additional references, please advise.

Sincerely,

/s/ Drew A. Carson
