I worked for MHN (Managed Health Net/Centene, Inc) as a Contract worker from 8/29/2016 until my offer for a full-time position with this company was offered in early October, 2016, and the hiring process was completed for me to begin working full-time as direct hire employee as of 12/13/2016. Responsibilities included training for the position of Care Manager, completion of four weeks of training on systems, workflows and clinical processes. I took calls from members wanting Outpatient and Employee Assistance mental health services. I completed assessments, gave referrals for in-network providers, completed authorizations as appropriate, and completed all documentation and other duties as required.

Responsibilities included conducting assessments, determining level of care, creating treatment plans/service plans for clients, updating treatment plans/service plans as needed, case management and case planning. I was under the direct supervision of the Program Manager in this position. I also conducted group and individual counseling/therapy sessions with clients, maintained all necessary documentation, and all other related duties. I also helped clients and their families with community resource referrals, and worked at helping the whole person, not just the substance abuse and mental health problems. I worked at the Residential Treatment Facility- Phoenix Academy, as a full-time counselor in the residential program. Performed weekly individual counseling sessions, family sessions, conduct didactic/educational groups, process groups, and all other duties related to maintaining a high level of services for the residential clients. I served Phoenix House-Dallas Academy as the Clinical Manager, beginning in May, 2008 and supervising four counselors, two admissions staff, a Case Manager and a Nurse. In December of 2008, I also became the Admissions Manager. At times when there have been counselor shortages or counselor are sick, on vacation, etc., I stepped in and accepted client caseloads. I conducted crisis intervention counseling, assessing and admitting clients, and conducted individual and group therapy to adolescent clients in our program. Was also involved in obtaining residential treatment authorizations, utilization reviews, managed the schedule for update Utilization Reviews, working with insurance providers and government agencies. Love managing staff and helping counselors and staff achieve their highest professional potential, but also really love counseling and continue to perform counseling services. I was in contact with local and regional community-based organizations and agencies for referral and resources for our program and the families involved in our Program.

OTHER INFORMATION TO CONSIDER:

I have been involved in multiple leadership and management roles, off/on since age 14. At that age, I was assigned as a Concession Manager at the Houston Astrodome, and was offered this position after the very first night I worked there. I maintained that job, hired two assistants and maintained that part-time leadership role until the age of 19, when I was already working a full-time professional job and working part-time at this job was no longer necessary.

I have been in leadership when I was in the U.S Army- Basic Training, was a Squad Leader over 12 men.

I have been in a Supervisory role in the Security profession- I worked for a professional commercial security company as Assistant Supervisor of a downtown Dallas, Texas multi-building complex for about a year. I had oversight of a second security officer, was assistant to the main supervisor, trained new security officers, also completed the Barton Academy, a 16-week Management Training program.

I also worked for about a year as Campus Security Supervisor at my alma mater university, was supervisor over 8 security personnel, over two college campuses. I trained them in their positions, monitored their work, and interviewed, hired them, and set and managed schedule, for about 1 year.

I have also been in Christian Ministry for over 25 years, have extensive experience in leading, training others, setting people in positions, helping them to grow and develop, and evaluated and helped them to continue to improve in their roles.
