Republic Refrigeration - Norcross, GA 2017 – Present

Designer Drafter

Design commercial refrigeration systems for Food Distribution Centers. Design roof top Unit Packages that enable large food warehouses to be properly cooled. Design customer supplied compressor skids utilizing structural components for the base to ensure accuracy from compressor inlet/outlet to system destinations. Extract information from customer supplied P&ID’s to create piping assemblies to run from engine compressor rooms located in the lower part of the building to the units located on the roof using Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor.

HUSSMANN CORPORATION – Suwanee, GA 2013 – 2017

Design Drafter

Designed commercial refrigeration packages for the grocery and retail industries using Solid Edge ST4. Designs involved 3D modeling and designing structural framework for fabricating the frames and bases with vendor compressor, pumps, motors and accessories. Designed sheet metal and plastic components. Emphasis was placed on piping design to ensure field installation accuracy. Developed bill of materials, preliminary customer submittal packages and general arrangement drawings.

Designed component, assembly and fabrication drawings for a new 10 compressor double stack unit at a customer’s request, which was then rolled out as a new product offering by Hussmann.

Created a new revenue stream by designing the structural and assembly fabrication drawings for a 6 fan ProtoAire.

Acted as key team member in the roll out and implementation of TeamCenter, the product lifecycle management software, including populating the software with legacy and new drawing data.

SELECKTEK – Conyers, GA 2012 – 2013

Designer, Pratt Industries (contract position)

Designed components for the fuel prep and process recycling industry. Primary designs were material handling, such as conveyors, bins, troughers, hoppers, structural framing and structural support component drawings. Completed prefab building drawings and foundational 2D drawings that were designed for county permitting. Used Autodesk Inventor for 3D modeling and 2D AutoCad.

Acted as team member to design conveyors for a new 100,000 s/f fuel prep building for the City of Conyers. Work was completed on time and within budget.

AEROTEK – Jonesboro, GA 2011 – 2012

Designer, Starflex (contract position)

Designed various sheet-metal component drawings, which were completed with Autodesk Inventor 3D, and designed flat patterns using RADAN nesting and bending simulation tool.

Reproduced sheet metal parts and prepped for the shop using software to automate the process, ensuring increased productivity, better accuracy and less operator involvement.

SELECKTEK, Griffin, GA 2011

Designer, Caterpillar (contract position)

Designed components for large generators, such as Gensets. Designs consisted of electromechanical components, sheet metal design and base assembly design. Used document manager system for ECN and revision control. Utilizing ProEngineer Wildfire 4.0 3D design software.

Designed the base for configuring the motor and generators on gensets.

AEROTEK, Atlanta and Alpharetta, GA 2010 – 2011

Designer, Warren Environment – Atlanta, Ga. (contract position) (2010-2011)

Designed large industrial stack systems for the pollution control industry using Inventor 3D 2011 Version. Industrial stack systems included spool components, duct and piping systems, pumps and blowers.

oChose new drafting software, 3D Inventor, set it up and trained staff on its use, which enhanced the accuracy of blue print designs, improved efficiencies and enhanced productivity.

oCompleted mechanical detailed drawings, bill of materials and created general arrangement layouts for field erection and installation.

Senior Designer, TEAFORD – Alpharetta, Ga. (contract position) (2010)

Designed large heavy equipment for the wood-burning industry using Inventor 3D -2010 Version. Designed material transporting equipment, screw conveyors and pneumatically conveying piping systems. Referenced P& IDs process and instrumentation diagrams to design piping systems for boilers. Analyzed and reviewed existing designs for improvement. Updated ECN changes and modifications. Drafted customer pump skids to ensure accurate fit-up.

oDesigned conveyors and acted as subject matter expert during the manufacturing process.

HUMBOLDT WEDAG – Norcross, GA 2007 – 2009

Designer

Designed large heavy equipment for cement plants using Autodesk 3D Inventor, AutoCad Version 2009. Designed material transporting equipment, screw conveyors and pneumatically conveying piping systems as well as platforms and miscellaneous equipment. Took conceptual designs and ideas from rough draft to completed working drawings.

Accurately designed components using 3D modeling to create virtual layouts and completed projects on time and within budget.

GTS ENERGY – Atlanta, GA 2005 – 2007

Designer

Started as a contractor but was hired full time. Designed convection heating systems for heat transfer units from concept to manufacturing, internal process coils consisting of schedule 40 pipe configurations and external shell and body with support base with plate. Configured motor supports, structural support systems, recirculation duct systems, flanged connections, expansion joints and blower packages.

Energy conservation equipment was designed to facilitate plants save cost. Engineers would calculate the expected size of the units and I was given the parameters to design all of the components external and internal piping to fabricate the equipment. Internal coils were made of copper and required accurate spool lengths for inlet and outlet thermal oil. Projects were created on time and within budget.

SIEMENS – Norcross, Ga. 2000 – 2005

Designer

Started as a contractor but was hired full time. Designed residential load center and electro-mechanical components using ProEngineer Wildfire. Generated 3D formed and flat patterned sheet-metal components. Interacted with internal and external customers. Produced main assemblies. Acted as subject matter expert for start-up and product introduction of load center products. Designed plastic components for injection molding.

Introduced a new load center product family into the market place, currently being sold at Home Depot. Acted as team member to design units of various sizes from concept to market on time and within budget.

GARDNER DENVER – Peachtree City, GA 1998 – 2000

Senior Designer

Custom designed vacuum package systems, separators, tanks, platforms, sheet-metal components, motor mounts, blower skid systems and structural components using Autodesk Inventor. Created piping isometrics for customer vacuum drops.

Accurately designed platforms and tanks, making provision for the mounting of the blower and motor configuration and acted as subject matter expert during manufacturing.
