Work Experience

Maintenance Technician

Abbott Labs/Hospira Inc/Pfizer - Rocky Mount, NC

February 1996 to March 2016

Worked as a Maintenance Tech in all areas of liquid injectable production. Certified in filling room thru finishing line maintenance.

Upgraded several keys systems that would become production pinch points while approaching the semi-annual shutdown/rebuild periods.

Retired at the end of March 2016.

Planner, USS Enterprise Nuclear Test Group

Newport News Shipyard - Newport News, VA

March 1990 to June 1993

Established the sequential plan for defueling and refueling of all eight reactors on CVN-65. Each reactor plant required it's own 18 individual reactor grade piping system to be installed in a specific sequence to complete each reactor replacement. I coordinated the material acquisition, fabrication, staging, installation, removal and destruction of each system for all eight reactors. In addition, coordinated the overhaul of all molded circuit breakers with overload protection in all of the ship's 480 volt load centers. This molded circuit breaker style was retired from service by Westinghouse and had to be reactivated to support the Enterprise electrical distribution system configuration, plus there were very strict guidelines for reactivating various load centers, to support coming out of overhaul.

I was released during the first major layoff at the shipyard after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Electrician, US Navy Surface Nuclear Program

US Navy Norfolk

December 1969 to February 1990

Completed the navy's BE&E, EM 'A',and the Navy's Nuclear Power School. Trained on and operated in the reactor plants on board USS California, USS Dwight D Eisenhower, USS Arkansas, and USS Theodore Roosevelt.

I advanced from a junior electrical operator up to and including leading electrician. My skills included electric plant operations, maintenance, trouble shooting, and training. In one instance, one of my training documents was used as the foundation for a major chance to the nuclear training doctrine for all Nimitz Class Aircraft carriers.

During my last three years in the Navy, on shore duty, I was a QA supervisor at a repair facility and a training coordinator at the base counter terrorism unit. Retired 2/28/90
