Reporting to the HSE Manager


Collect and compile HSE performance data and communicate these to line managers, clients (on request) and the entire organization.

Improve HSE consciousness amongst all company and subcontractor personnel through standard training aids such as posters, safety alerts and toolbox talk (TBT)

Provide topics for toolbox talks and monitor participation by all company and subcontractor personnel.

Represent the company on HSE issues before client and subcontractor.

Carrying out of inspection and audits to ensure only safe working systems are operational and all Health, Safety and environmental requirements are being observed.

Gives training to all company’s personnel in form of induction and toolbox talk.

Gives professional training to external trainees with Federal Ministry of Health, Nigeria Society of Engineer. Etc.

Promoting within the construction group and subcontractor that incident prevention is an integral part of construction and operational efficiency.

Ensures that proper waste management procedures are followed.

Plan and participate in regular drills and exercise to test emergency equipment and emergency response of personnel.

Dissemination of information on learning points following incident that occur in the company and in other companies.

Identify new/ additional hazard that has not beenpreviously identified; analyzes the hazard and ensure that adequate and appropriate controls are recommended and implemented which are forwarded to the line managers, project managers for inclusion in job safety analysis.

Reporting to the HSE Manager & Rig Manager


Reporting to the Rig Manager and HSE Manger regarding all related HSE issues.

Assist with the identification of training requirements and subsequent training of all levels of rig crew.

Ensure compliance to HSE policy and procedures as per client’s standard. Facilitate the full application of risk assessment including HEMP, JSA, HAZOP TRIC, LTI etc. monitor quality inspection certification equipment and welders certificate on periodic interval and keep all relevant records

Carry out training of local and expats’ crew on board the rig, Induction of Visitors and Newcomers

Conduct weekly safety meetings, inspection audit, and plan and implement different drill exercise.

Inspect at interval all related safety equipment

Prepare and follow-up permit to work system of all non-routine operations.

Monitor HSE requirement of the drilling program and advice the management on lapses as to implement improvement action.

Prepare and send across daily, weekly and monthly safety statistics.

Monitor and Enforce the application of Toolbox talk, JSA, PTW, Pre-job meetings etc.

Monitor personnel HSE performance in meeting objectives and implement required training program (local and expert crew on rig).

Provide leadership in the recognition of operational related hazards, enforce safe working practices and full incident investigation, review and follow up with close supervision.

Supervise rig safety activities of the company and third party contractors.

Provide HSE support and advice in drilling risk assessment, work permit system and work procedures.

Drive and encourage safety interventions and reporting through the stop card programs and rewards



Reporting to the HSSEQ Manager & Offshore Installation Manager (OIM)


Implement full integrated HSSEQ management system working with the management.

Programming and recording all safety exercises as defined by statutory regulations and vessel procedures.

Identify any deficiencies in crew members training and advised the OIM/ Management accordingly.

Actively participate, taking a lead role in all forms of safety training for the crew.

Investigate and report on all shipboard incidents and accidents.

Investigate all identified non-conformities and monitor corrective actions as agreed with departmental heads/ superintendents and document via management system.

Ensure that all incidents, injuries and near misses are documented, investigated and root causes are established with appropriate corrective action.

Work with the HSSEQ team on environmental issues and take part in certifications such as ISO 14001 certification.

Risk management & awareness- implement a functional and proactive risk identification and management system aligned with corporate risk matrix.

Develop documents and implement safety campaigns and initiatives such as behavioral based safety systems, surveys etc.

Contribute to the continuous development of the Company’s SMS content and maintain an overview of corrective measures.

Assist in the administration of internal audits and loss prevention progress.

Ensure all work and activities are carried out in a safe and conducive manner in compliance with the Company’s HSSEQ policy.

Curtail unsafe practices, Maintain a Zero (0) casualty & incident rate, also use HSSEQ system to document and provide factual basis for results.

Participate in and carry out internal audits- identify all risks, gaps and implement a documented remedial work plan.

Ensure sufficient resources are available to maintain safety and anti-pollution equipment in a complete state of readiness with appropriate documentation and regular testing.

Supervise the operation of the installation’s clinic and medical facilities in conjunction with the Medic or offshore nurses.

Conduct safety familiarization sessions as directed by the OIM for joining staff and visitors but ensure implementation in all cases exceed or meet standards on scheduled and regular intervals with documentation.

Organize and attend all safety meetings on board.

Supervise all security procedures, review gaps and implement remedial work plan with management.

Maintain the muster lists and safety notice boards as directed by the OIM and required standards.

Supervising all aspects of the HSSEQ policies and procedures with regard to safety related items such as the Permit to Work System, Health and Hygiene Inspections, Safety Observations programs; Review as needed to meet and exceed standards.

Ensure the audit of equipment are carried out to ensure they remain in Class and certified; Keep records and distribute proactively to management on all HSSEQ processes.

Ensure the FPSO remain in class and conformed to ABS audits/ survey.

Carryout internal audits of the FPSO as required by ABS.

Carryout internal safety audits as required by DPR facility inspections.

Carryout Helideck inspections as required by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority.

Pursue the continuous improvement of the HSSEQ standards.

Maintain awareness and promotion of HSSEQ standards by the employees and through the Company’s operations and projects.

Ensure third parties carrying out any work on the Company’s facility observe all HSSEQ regulations and policies as required in conformance to the Company’s SMS /ISM Code.
