JNTU Anantapur, India

Gannon University, Erie, PA November 2016 - September 2017

Research Assistant

Worked as a Research Assistant under Dr.Windi Professor in MSME.

Compared the quantitative results of an FMEA and reliability field data from real wind turbine systems and their assemblies.

Studied an existing design 2MW wind turbine with a Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG), which is then compared with a hypothetical wind turbine system using the Brushless Doubly Fed Generator (BDFG) of the same rating.

Investigated the relationship between quantitative FMEA results and WT field assembly failure rates.

Calculated Severity rating scale, Occurrence rating scale, and Detection rating scale for WT FMEA.

Determined the Root Causes of Failure Mode for each assembly.

Produced RPN by Multiplying the Occurrence and Detection.

Performed FMEA procedure by hand or using Microsoft Office Excel.

Calculated The RPN data from the FMEA and compared with field failure rate data for assemblies.

Investigated further and shown the comparison between the product of occurrence and detection and field failure which gave confidence in the FMEA process.

Produced FMEA data and ranked in assembly order for clear picture of the unreliability of assemblies, subassemblies and parts.
