Career History

Key Project Experience

Effectively managed the migration of industrial hygiene data to environmental safety and occupational

health (ESOH) data management system by deploying and managing 30 EHS technicians and professionals

in support of the Air Force's industrial hygiene program. This resulted in the first ever command wide

standardized ESOH data management system. Completed project within budget and $250,000 in savings.

Provided sampling oversight as senior CIH at large scale (10,000 homes sampled) lead sampling operations in East Los Angeles, provided quality assurance critical feedback to California Department of Toxic Substances.

Conducted extensive air monitoring for hydrogen sulfide/sulfur compounds related to work place exposures and odor complaints at large fertilizer nutrition facility. Characterized sulfur compound odor issues over the plant site as it related to complaints. Developed effective action plans and control strategies to reduce employee and odor exposures.

Developed air sampling plan for Fiat Chrysler plant and oversaw its execution in complex automobile manufacturing plant in Mexico. Led to successful sampling event after several unsuccessful tries by previous consultants.

Performed health and safety audit of hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) generating operations at five Bell helicopter manufacturing plants. The audit included a review of all operations generating Cr(VI) exposures and compliance with 29 CFR 1910.1026 requirements. This included a review of all air sampling data for use of proper sampling protocol and procedures as well as lab analytical accuracy for compliance with OSHA requirements. Results of audit was used to resolve 100% of compliance issues.

Project manager for indoor air quality (IAQ) survey at Defense Supply Center in Richmond (DSCR). Led project team in assessing HVAC system and collection of microbial and VOC samples to identify indicators that led to indoor air quality problems in 23 buildings. Provided technical report detailing findings and required corrective actions. Recommendations resulting in resolution of 90% of IAQ problems.

Conducted multi-media environmental compliance audits of 5 gas and electric facilities including substations, and repair shops. The H&S compliance audits were conducted to evaluate the extent to which the facilities were complying with applicable federal OSHA, state, and local regulations, as well as corporate compliance programs. Recommendations from the audit findings were used for 100% improvement to the H&S program.

Project manager and lead auditor for Occupational Health Compliance Assessment Management Program at four Air Force Materiel Command facilities: Robins AFB, Edwards AFB, Wright-Patterson AFB, and Rome Laboratory. Team chief for six-person health and safety assessment team. Evaluated protocols assessing ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, noise, personal protective equipment and chemical exposures. Provided out-brief and identified non-compliance issues in technical report to base commanders.

Led assessment team as senior safety and health assessor for component manufacturer and aircraft assembly plant. Areas evaluated included; hearing conservation, hazard communication, industrial hygiene program, training, respiratory protection, personal protective equipment, exposure monitoring, mobile lifting devices, and dock safety. Delivered audit findings, and "best practices" report on time and within budget.
