PROJECT MANAGER • KUWAIT GULF OIL COMPANY (KGOC) • DEC. 2010 – NOV. 2017

Have represented Kuwait for its Assets Management in Oil / Gas production facilities of Neutral Zone between the countries of Kuwait & Saudi Arabia, to ensure its strategic interest such as Joint Operations (JO) Agreement development, Kuwait Sulfur Coordination Committee, Contracts Claims Management Team.

Spearheaded the Team to finalize 2040 Strategy, working with A.T.Kearney, to execute growth & sustainability projects i-e., Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), Steam & Water Flood projects.

Program Manager in Projects Review Committee to prioritize & recommend CAPEX budgets for approval of Strategic, Environmental & Economic High-ROI projects annually. Monitor & control approved projects for progress and completion (2017: 18 Major/minor projects $ 400 million).

Project Manager of GHG reduction project (USD 10 Million) to reduce Sour gas flaring & emissions to 50% from 65 % in 18 months, saving USD 16 Million/year to the State by its usage.

Conceived the project, completed conceptual design, selected the option, completed FEED, finalized scope of work and prepared tender document/Request for Quotation (RFQ).

Ensured safety of personnel in high H2S sour gas atmosphere with training, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

During design, prepared Process Design packages including PFD, new & redlining of P&IDs, process datasheet, evaluate vendor details, coordinate with other disciplines for final scope.

Managed the Contract within specifications, handled change orders, reviewed and approved deliverables with respective discipline Engineers, conducted Inspection of materials as per Test-Plan (ITP), coordinated with Operations for shutdown required for hook-up, completed hydrotest and installation of Cathodic protection of pipeline/equipment.

Developed plant start-up and commissioning procedure in coordination with JO Operations Team, created shift-logs formats, solved initial teething problems and stabilized the unit successfully in <90% of scheduled time.

Central Gas Utilization Project (greenfield) FEED M/s. Worley Parson, Manchester (30 MMUSD). Applied to World Bank as Clean Dev. Mechanism (CDM) project for GHG reduction (CER credits – carbon trading under Kyoto protocol).

Responsibilities:

Complied with Stage-Gate system from KGOC & Chevron (CPDEP) & secured AFE approval.

Finalized estimate, prepared request & obtained Final Investment Decision budget approval.

Managed the Project/Service-Order Management Plan (Cost & Time) approved for the EPMC.

Coordinated with all disciplines (process/mechanical/instrumentation/civil/structural/ electrical), resolved conflicts and ensured deliverables comply quality spec. and schedule.

Handled process equipment such as Floating & fixed roof tanks, separators, desalters, pumps, compressors, heaters, heat exchangers, flares, 3-ph separators during design & installation.

KNPC-MAA is Asia’s 2nd largest Oil Refinery & Gas Liquefaction complex in which I have played the role of Projects-Process Engineer for the following major projects, from Aug. 2005 to April 2008

Execution: New Oil Pier Project for Crude & LPG Export (Hyundai, SK). Project cost: 345 MMUSD.

FEED: New Acid Gas Removal & Sulfur Production (Worley Parsons, UK). Project cost: 400 MMUSD.

FEED: Ethane Recovery Project (Hyundai, SK). Project cost: 470 MMUSD.

FEED: Fourth Gas Train Project (SKEC, SK), Project cost: 800 MMUSD.

Responsibilities:

Prepared Process Design Engineering Package including PFD, Heat & Mass Balance process simulations, P&IDs, Hydraulic calculations, Equipment selection & process specification, Flare & utilities load summary.

Have carried out design review for the upstream unit documentation for Booster station BS-171, Sour Gas Pipeline Network mechanical datasheet, process control and instrumentation datasheet.

Facilitated HAZOP and HAZID for the FEED packages to have clear scope for execution.

Prepared pre-commissioning / commissioning procedure and executed New Oil Pier including pipeline degreasing, drying, N2 flushing and HC cut-in, stabilization.

Have been groomed in one of the Complex Refineries from Engineer - Operations to Deputy Manager – Process Engineering in Gasoil Desulfurization, FCCU, Sulfur Recovery, Crude dist. units

Project Engineer who commissioned of Grassroot Crude Oil Refinery & associated Sour Gas processing, Power/Utilities including Water Treatment, Steam generation units & Storage Tanks.

Prepared commissioning schedule & SOP, shift supervisors/DCS/field operators shift log.

Trained/mentored operators to Refinery Operations. Conduct annual performance appraisal.

Have conducted study by test run to increase capacity by 20,000 B/D for Crude unit, evaluated the adequacy of the product run down line, draw off nozzles size and implemented modifications.

Have increased the LPG product make (6-8%) by optimizing Stabilizer Reboiler in Crude Unit.

Conducted Root Cause analysis for technical issues of Fluidized Catalyst Cracking Unit, Lube & Wax Unit, Propane Deasphalting Unit to produce Bright Neutral Lube Oil Base Stock.

Increased energy conservation in crude unit by optimizing COT at heater outlet, after studying the quality of crude at site vis-à-vis design crude quality.

Introduced caustic injection at de-salter to reduce overhead chloride content in crude unit, thereby reducing corrosion chemical usage by 25% in overhead system.

As Engineer-R&D, developed alternate methodology for evaluation of Attrition resistance of FCCU catalyst and part of the zeolite catalyst development research & extraction pilot plants.

Executed Lube-oil extraction Pilot Plant for the successful testing chemical technologies.
