Tradenet Financial Services, Ltd 2016 – Present

Member London-based trading room. Set-up a professional office to support the trading platform. Tradenet provided multiple professional equity trading mentors.

Universal Electric Corporation, Canonsburg, PA 2012 – ‘15

Manufacturer of custom, design-to-order, power distribution systems for data centers. Major clients include Apple, Amazon, Facebook and Google. UEC manufactures locally and sells world-wide.

Award: Pittsburgh Technology Council Advanced Manufacturer of the Year winner 2014.

Director of Operations

Responsible for P&L, 250 employees in 80,000 ft2 of manufacturing space, production, planning, scheduling, global supply chain, and information systems. Reported directly to the ownership family. Worked with Sales and I.T. to roll out cloud based Modified reporting tools to give more data analysis to sales and management. Led UEC’s first European operation expansion establishing a physical presence in the UK. Co-managed building construction doubling footage.

Increased profit margins 85% and sales 60%. Handled the increased sales volume with the same headcount by eliminating constraints, reducing waste and re-work. I implemented numerous process improvements in the plant as well as in scheduling, supply chain and industrial engineering.

Reduced employee turnover from over 20% annually to 9% by empowering shop floor employees and creating an open environment where direct feedback is valued. Reengineered the operations organizational structure and hiring processes to involve front-line leadership.

Improved product quality reducing warranty costs by 75% by partnering with the Engineering department and improving the enterprise resource systems.

Thermal Industries, Inc., Pittsburgh, PA 1995 – 2012

Thermal is a subsidiary of Atrium Corp., which manufactured vinyl replacement windows, room enclosures, and vinyl deck and railing systems with annual revenues of $60 million. Thermal sold its products through a network of company-owned distribution centers in the Midwest and East coast.

Award: Arthur Andersen Enterprise Excellence winner 1998.

Vice President Operations 1996 –2012

I had direct P&L and operational responsibility for 300 employees in two manufacturing facilities producing custom made-to-order windows in two weeks from order receipt to delivery. Directed engineering and information technology departments with industry leading innovations launching real-time plant floor product configurators. Assisted parent company’s I.T. department by improving the cloud based Oracle implementation. Tied hourly shift results into management metric dashboards. Implemented Demand Flow Technologies and 5S methods in two factories.

Turned around PVC profile extrusion factory reducing costs 27% yielding $2.4 million in annual savings. Green fielded decking and railing product lines into a profitable, $6 million unit. Reinvigorated engineer-to-order patio enclosure production; streamlining layouts, reducing handling, resulting in improved sales, financials, quality and on-time delivery.

Manager Technology Development 1995-1996

Brought modern information systems to a PC based organization. Transferred rapid prototyping from the auto industry to the building products sector, decreasing new product launch times. Developed customized manufacturing system with internal I.T. staff, which cost less than 2% of net revenue.
