In January of 2002 I was persuaded to take an early retirement. During this time I have been working on personal projects, including the creation of a Borland Paradox application used to manage a 15,000 volume book collection. At this time however, I feel the need to rejoin the work force.

Duties: I was responsible for developing major enhancements to existing applications, and designing and developing new applications as required by various user groups in the manufacturing process. This involved collecting and organizing user requirements based on interviews with members of the user community, developing application design specification documents, coding, testing and implementing the applications and enhancements and providing the user community with documentation on the effective use of the new applications.

While the majority of my work was conducted in a Tandem Pathway / COBOL environment, I also participated in several projects that involved electronic communication with applications running on other platforms. In addition, I was a member of the programming team that was involved in Dell’s attempt to implement the SAP software. This included both developing scripting documents and coding user specific interface modules within the SAP/ABAP proprietary development environment.

All applications were on-line and ran on a variety of hardware systems which communicated through a BSC 2780 communications emulator.
