Resume‘ Cover Letter

Dear Human Resource Services Person:

For the past “20” years, I’ve been employed as an EDUCATOR, teaching in class room environments, for several local (Norfolk) universities. With Saint Leo University (16 plus years), all of my classes (undergraduate level) were within the field of Accounting . However, over the past six years, I’ve also taught numerous courses for Embry – Riddle Aeronautical University which were all designated as Business Management titles.

Previous employment, over 20 years, prior to 1996, I was employed in Controller, Assistant Controller, and Comptroller titled positions in the real estate management industry both in Newport News and in Washington, D.C. These positions required oversight responsibilities concerning all Accounting Department activities: receivables, payables, payroll, etc.. During this time, I also assisted in a conversion to Peachtree computer software and previously to the outsourcing of Data Processing.

My interest in returning to the business world full time, is prompted by changes in the demand for “in class room” instructors, as numerous universities are moving in the direction of “on line” classes. I now feel that my past working experiences have prepared me for senior level positions, those requiring a combination of both Accounting knowledge and Business Management experience.

I have no health related problems which would interfere with my job performance and I continue to be invited to crew aboard fellow friend’s sailboats for free wind rides on the Chesapeake Bay. (However, I refrain from going “aloft” for sail entanglements, which I would not even have done on my own sailboats.)

At my stage of life, I am not interested in climbing the corporate ladder – “opportunities” nor those “high turnover” positions where the corporate environment itself prevents any chance of success in the position. Barring the above two caveats, I can start on Monday !
