Director – Human Resources - NAFTA Region (U.S. & Mexico) 2013 - 2017 HR leader for the NAFTA Region responsible for 7 divisions. Report to Global SVP Human Resources and NAFTA Regional CEO. Responsibility includes 9 sites and 7,500 union and non-union employees. Manage a team of 49 HR professionals in the US and Mexico. The role focused on ensuring top performing leadership and implementing critical HR processes to continue rapid business growth (61% revenue growth and 48% regional employee population growth) in 4 year period.

• Established and implemented aggressive talent acquisition approaches at two greenfield plants and two rapidly expanding plants (U.S./Mexico) resulting in filling over 2,400 positions in a 2 year period.

• Rebuilt executive leadership teams for two challenged divisions resulting in strengthening the leadership teams and aligning them to common goals.

• Directed top level leadership development and succession planning process across all divisions in the region resulting in development and succession plans for key talent.

• Led HR team in critical turnaround of challenged southern region plant experiencing severe operating losses and potential unionization. Rapidly implemented changes in talent acquisition, goal alignment, communication, employee retention, training and development, and associate engagement.

• Established US-based compensation structure, salary review process, and benefits plan revisions to position total compensation appropriately with automotive Tier 1 suppliers.

• Reduced annual health care cost by 20% ($1M) in key Powertrain division.

• Directed restructuring of compensation and benefits plans, improved new hire orientation and training, and adjusted shift schedules for 3,400 employee Juarez Mexico operation to reduce employee turnover by nearly 50% during rapid expansion in tight labor supply region.

• Led assessment and implementation of HR IT systems for timekeeping/attendance, and benefits administration.

Director – Human Resources – Corporate Staffs 2010 - 2013 HR leader for Corporate Staff functions with over 3,800 employees in Finance, Treasury, Human Resources, Legal, Audit, IT, External Affairs, and Business Development. Reported to SVP Human Resources for FCA NAFTA. Direct Business Partner with CFO. Led team of 9 HR Business Partners.

• Rebuilt Finance team through business recovery, hiring and placing senior leaders, and increasing overall team from 450 to over 700 associates.

• Led Corporate Staffs HR team in strategic processes of performance management, employee development, and succession planning activities with semi-annual reviews with the FCA CEO.

• Co-created and launched the Corporate Leadership Development Program designed to re-energize the new talent pipeline through hiring high potential MBAs into a 2-year developmental process. Facilitated top management sponsor committee.

• Partnered closely with new Washington DC-based External Affairs SVP to build a strong leadership team in both the Washington DC and Michigan locations.

Director – Human Resources – Engineering, Purchasing, Design, Product Planning 2008 - 2010 HR leader for Technical Operations functions with over 6,500 employees in functions of Product Development, Purchasing, Product Design, and Product Planning. Reported to SVP Human Resources for FCA. Managed team of 19 HR professionals. The main areas of focus included providing HR leadership through the bankruptcy process, retaining key talent, and integrating HR processes associated with the Fiat Automobile acquisition of Chrysler Group.

• Managed 20% reduction-in-force through bankruptcy process. Retained key technical personnel and closely coached HR team to manage legal risk through reduction.

• Restructured 5,000 employee Product Development organization in 10 weeks utilizing an OD approach to ensure buy-in of both the organizational structure and key executive and management placement actions.

• Provided leadership direction on employee development process involving structured HR development committee meetings covering employees across engineering and purchasing functions to closely link career development with employee selection and placement processes. The main areas of focus included reducing levels of leadership, improving top leadership talent, performance management, succession planning, union relations and negotiations, and implementing lean concepts to improve operating efficiency across all locations.

• Reorganized leadership structure to reduce levels and expand span of control to empower decision-making and drive change at lower levels.

• Negotiated UAW labor agreements at national and local levels. Managed grievance appeal process for the region with UAW counterparts.

• Implemented lean operating principles at the parts distribution centers to increase productivity for inbound and outbound activities.
