INCOME AND SALES TAX DEPARTMENT-MINISTRY OF FINANCE. 07/1999 – +PRESENT

The Income Tax Department and the General Sales tax Department were merged in one Department on 16/8/2004 under the name of Income and Sales Tax Department on 16/8/2004. Tax policy is considered the most important components of the fiscal policy. The goals of tax policy in Jordan are represented in supplying the treasury with the required revenues to finance the general expenses, encourage savings, investment, positive impact on consumption and price- stability and achieving justice and social equity by re-distribution of incomes. Tax policy in Jordan requires emphasis on the balanced equation between tax authority and the taxpayer's rights which demands providing tax service and enhance voluntary compliance of taxpayers. To achieve harmony between tax system and the national development goals, the department sets its mission through converting it into procedural objectives that are translated into specific tasks and procedures forming the department action plan. Achievements/Tasks

• Establish and/or adhere to processes to ensure the timely and accurate filing of indirect tax returns.

• Review VAT accounts and VAT aging for issues and provide timely support to resolve accordingly

• Assist with drafting indirect tax policies and procedures as needed

• Support HomeAway in applying appropriate VAT & GST to complex customer-facing and supplier matters

• Coordinate and/or support responses to indirect tax audit requests as required

• Mentor junior VAT staff as required

• Monitor changes in VAT & GST legislation to ensure compliance Track and timely communicate to a broad internal group relevant changes in indirect tax laws and regulations

• Summarizes current financial status by collecting information. Perform monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc financial reporting and analysis of the balance sheet

• Prepare ledger account reconciliations in accordance with standards; verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts receivable

• Conduct statutory reconciliation and reporting requirements to ensure compliance with local laws

• Summarizes current financial status by collecting information. Perform monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc financial reporting and analysis of the balance sheet

• Prepares special reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing account information trends

• Conduct financial analysis and prepare report as needed, including regional financial and variance analysis, variances against the operating plan and estimates, and project financials

• Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents

• Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process

• Investigate, document, and analyse workflow to generate process improvements

-Audit financial statements for different private sector corporations and establishments.
