This included quality control testing, inventory control, subassembly, top-level assembly, testing and final verification testing using oscilloscopes, DMMs, network analyzers and fiber optic test equipment. Contract was cancelled by DOD for budgetary reasons.

Diagnose and repair home appliances including but not limited to washers, dryers, stoves, dishwashers, microwaves, air conditioners and refrigerators. Using a company issued laptop, tools, parts and vehicle, run scheduled appointments in client’s homes and businesses.

Hersey Meters (Contract, open ended) February 2008 – June 2009

Electronics Technician

Design, diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electronic reading devices used in municipal water meter reading devices. This included meter translators and receiving units operating in the 900 – 930 MHz band. Design test apparatus for measuring the signal strength and verifying that it complied with FCC guidelines. Prepare databases of defective units returned from customers and formulate repair procedures and modifications to circuitry and/or manufacturing techniques. Project was completed on time and on budget. Bench repair and diagnostics of prototype units to be deployed in the field using DMM, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes and function generators.

Hybrid Technologies (Contract Position) October 2005 – January 2008

Research and Design Engineer

Design, modify and install electrical systems on conventional internal combustion vehicles being converted to fully electric drive vehicles. Organize, order and anticipate equipment and supply needs for the electrical department. Consult with vendors concerning product needs and specifications. Evaluate electrical system components and their performance in cooperation with manufacturer’s design technicians. Meet corporate deadlines and expectations for vehicle readiness and performance. Projects were completed on time and on budget with functioning prototype vehicles delivered for field-testing to NASA.

APAC Atlantic, Inc. May 2004 – June 2005

Quality Control Technician

Supervise asphalt paving crew to insure that all quality control and contract specifications are being met. This includes surface preparation inspection, delivery supervision, paving supervision, testing asphalt density in the field using a nuclear density gauge and lab testing of cores for specific gravity. Included in this is process is the completion of daily reports and a full report to be submitted for the individual client when the contract work is finished. NCDOT Roadway Technician and Nuclear certification was required. Due to lack of work and NCDOT budget freezes, the division was unprofitable and sold to another company. All employees were terminated.

Davidson College (Contract Position) October 2002 – July 2003

Physics Lab and Demonstration Manager

Organize, repair, setup and design of lecture demonstrations for all undergraduate physics classes. Assist with the setup and take down of undergraduate lab equipment, new equipment purchases and online lab exercises. All lecture demonstrations and lab equipment was repaired and organized. Contract was not renewed due to budget cuts.

Datalogic, Inc. (Contract Position) January 2001 – January 2002

Field Applications Engineer

Installation of LASER and CCD bar code scanners for the Airborne Express sortation hub in Wilmington, OH. This includes application appraisal, frame design, system design, physical installation, wiring, networking, testing and final acceptance testing by clients. Full package tracking system was designed, installed and tested to client’s satisfaction. This contract was not renewed because Airborne Express was being sold to UPS and the hub was being shut down.

University of Cincinnati (Contract Position) August 1999 – August 2000

Instrumentation Specialist

Organize, repair, setup and design of lecture demonstrations for all undergraduate physics classes. This was in anticipation of the completion of a newly renovated physics education building. Assist with the setup and take down of undergraduate lab equipment, new equipment purchases and online lab exercises. All physics lecture demonstrations were organized and categorized but construction delays postponed the relocation to the new facility. Contract was not renewed due to budget overruns for the entire renovation project.

University of Arkansas June 1992 – July 1999

Physics Laboratory Curator

Set-up, design, construction, maintenance and procurement of all undergraduate Physics lab equipment. These laboratories include Physics and Human Affairs, Physics for Architects, University Physics I/II (Calculus based), College Physics I/II (Non Calculus based) and Astronomy. Supervision and training of 10 to 15 graduate teaching assistants per semester including weekly meetings. Preparation, maintenance and development of departmental lecture demonstrations supporting 18 Faculty members. Resigned my position to follow my Wife to Graduate School in Ohio in conjunction with being offered the contract position at the University of Cincinnati.
