Acting Director, Program and Project Management and Controls, North America Utility-Scale Solar Construction

• Direct, manage and coach Program Managers, Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Project Controls Engineers stationed at various sites across North America.

• Develop, lead and direct all facets of project controls for over 22 utility-scale solar projects ranging in size from 50MW to 200MW per plant, including EPC oversight activities to ensure timely and consistent reporting.

• Develop, monitor, control and report performance for over 22 large-scale projects including schedules, budget status, earned value performance, and various categories of operational efficiency (safety, quality, procurement, etc).

• Direct SunEdison and EPC personnel in the overarching mission of innovation and execution of Operational Excellence, Lean Construction and Last Planner initiatives throughout the construction lifecycle. Achievements include 70% compounded improvement in productivity and over 23% (over $70M) in shared savings as exampled with the 685MW of Utah utility-scale solar projects.

• Design, build and implement a revolutionary performance-reporting tool (SunOPS) that visualizes aggregated information from daily reports received from various EPCs constructing plants across North America. Able to provide daily, weekly and monthly reports at the project and portfolio level for performance of each of SunEdison’s Performance Index (SunPI) categories, including: safety, schedule, cost and quality performance. SunOPS also was developed with the ability to report on pre-construction progress, procurement status, and manhours for each of the major construction activities.

• Provide daily guidance, direction, and specialized assistance to multiple project personnel for the resolution of difficult and complex problems spanning multiple disciplines within the organization.

• Organizational liaison with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including Design and Engineering, Procurement, Safety, Quality, Operational Excellence, IT, consultants, and external EPCs.

• Directly responsible for all operational expectations (schedule, budget, earned value, etc) of the Tehachapi service center’s 1,100 square mile service territory, including new construction as well as operations and maintenance of the electrical system and customer service activities.

• Managed up to 100 FTEs including union, non-union, exempt and non-exempt classifications, including Foremen, Linemen, Troublemen, Planners, Schedulers, Inspectors, Field Service Technicians, Meter Readers, and the Energy Payment Center; oversight and control over all budgeting and job accounting staff.

• Oversee salary administration, training, counseling, performance appraisals, discipline, collective bargaining agreement adherence, and compliance to the company’s Ethics and Integrity and EEO requirements.

• Responded to California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and other governmental inquiries and issues.

• Constant rapid reaction to resolve problems and minimize negative impact on reliability, customers, operations, quality, cost and profit.

• Incident Commander and Emergency Response Coordinator for localized storm response as well as mutual assistance to other districts and utilities across America.
