JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for the administration and management of the unit in 24 hours. She is directly responsible to the unit Head Nurse / Supervisor for the administration of the unit.
Receives/admits patients from other area/ward.
Carries out legal doctor's order in the chart.
Sees to it that the patient is properly placed in the bed and all medical accessories /equipment is /are in placed that are used for monitoring patient's condition.
Takes and monitors the vital signs, level of consciousness of the patient, blood pressure, cardiac rate, respiratory rate, neuro-vital signs, characteristics of cardiac rhythm the patient has in cardiac monitor.
Relays/refers the patient's condition to the resident on duty.
Review the patient's chart for the authenticity of doctor's order, medicines/treatment, fluids, laboratory exams and history of patient.
Documents all necessary data /subjective /objective complains /assessment /plan /implementation and evaluation of the nursing intervention/management made by the nurse.
Provides/renders direct nursing care to the patient.
Observes/maintains the good environment for the patient and the cleanliness or orderliness of the area.
Performs the NGT feeding, IV insertion, catheter insertion (Foley catheter), enemas, and bed bathing.
Assists the attending physician during rounds and in doing simple procedures.
Assists the surgeon in performing minor surgical procedures done to patient who is in emergency status such as Central Venous Pressure catheterization, AV Fistula creation and Subclavian catheter insertion.
Assists the resident on duty/anaesthesiologist in performing endotracheal tube and NGT insertion.
Performs special procedures such as ECG tracing, suctioning thru oral, endotracheal and tracheal access.
Measure the intake and output of the patient.
Endorses her patient to the next shift and all the nursing intervention being done on his hour of duty.
