Summary: This project deals with the application of the Six Sigma methodology in reducing the scrap in elastomer bonding process of the company, Deutsch India Power Connectors (Te Connectivity) in India. The DMAIC (Define –Measure-Analysis-Improve-Control) approach has been employed here to solve the issue of Elastomer Debonding in connectors and improving the process yield. This project explores how a manufacturing process can use a systematic methodology to achieve a world class quality level.

Awards: Awarded Third Prize in ‘Six Sigma’ Case Study Presentation Contest 2017’ representing Deutsch India Power Connectors (Te Connectivity) conducted by ‘SQC & OR Unit, Indian Statistical Institute’, Bangalore.

PG ACADEMIC PROJECT : (TE Connectivity (Deutsch, Bangalore) Title : “Establishing Time Standards For Connector Assembly Line Using MOST” Summary: In this case study, the problems and challenges of our company engaged in assembling various types of connectors for AIRBUS. This study is conducted through application of Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (MOST) in the shop floor to capture the workflow activities using systematic and descriptive workflow data block for the value adding, value engineering and methods engineering analysis. Thus through the process redesign and process flow analysis, material handling and workflow are improved. Consequently, it has been possible to reduce the production cycle time to cater the higher level of demand with shorter takt time. COMPANY PROJECT (TE Connectivity (Deutsch, Bangalore) Activities : MOST Technique, Takt & Demand calculations, Load chart, Bottleneck identification, Elimination of Non value added activities, Kaizen ideas, Design modifications, Implementation of Automation, Taguchi design of experiments, Line Balancing, Manpower Reduction and Cost estimation.
