As a private ESL Tutor in Business English, I helped international professionals increase their vocabulary, fluency and cultural understanding.

Self-Employed Jan 2009- Current

After 7 years experience in the Corporative Business environment, I decided to dedicate full time to the private tutoring of ESL using Skype tool and in person.

Within two years as a private tutor, allied to competence, dedication, hard work and experience I was able to triple my formal income as a team leader of a multinational company. I had no more time in my agenda for new students!

By developing programs that aim to increase interest in higher learning, I was able to keep most of my students loyal to their classes for years. I have consistently received positive feedback and indications from formal and current students to newer ones.

During my administrative experience in Business Corporations I was able to keep my position of ESL Teacher as a part time job.

My experience in multi nationals created a good link between my abilities to teach English and the reality of the business world.

Also, while working part time at PRO ENGLISH I had the opportunity to develop a marketing / educational strategy plan which in time, helped sales goals and contributed academically to the improvement of the school. The plan focused on the selection and adoption of pedagogical materials used at the school at the time.

CCBEU Campinas Jan 2002-Dec-2004

Working at CCBEU was a blessing in my career as a teacher. The teacher's team was extremely well integrated, the coordination attentive and kind, constantly finding ways to improve our skills as ESL Teachers.

We were constantly sent to teachers’ workshops and seminars around the State of Sao Paulo. This experience showed me how important and valuable the shared information and experience among teachers is, both methodologically and socially. I grew a lot as an individual and as a teacher at this institution.

The school also developed incentive programs for teachers who wanted to contribute with new ideas to improve the school program.

At one point in my experience at CCBEU, I was able to contribute with two plans:

The first plan aimed the use of camera recording during certain classes where the focus was on pronunciation.

The second plan came about while private tutoring a semi-death student in the school. For one semester I tutored this special student inside the school on a one to one basis with very good results.

Such experience inspired me to propose that some volunteer teachers in the school learned sign language (in both English and Portuguese) allowing us, through study and debates to develop ways and techniques to better aid special students to the opportunity of learning a second language.

CNA-(Cultural Norte Americano) June 1995- July 1996

CNA was my first experience as an ESL teacher.

In my short experience at this school, I quickly learned that I had a special ability for the job. I was exposed to all age ranges and levels of students.

With creativity, good humor, dedication and training, this ability became quickly recognized by the school coordinator Alejandra Vanquez (today a registered teacher at the prestigious American School in Campinas.) who indicated me as her substitute.

Alejandra was the person who first introduced to the key elements of being a good teacher and to the magic of teaching English as a second language. She inspired me to years that followed and up to date, I treasure most of the things I learned from her.
