Personal summary

I am currently a GP Partner at the Mission Practice, Tower Hamlets. Over the past 9 years I have had front-line experience of clinical responsibility in numerous disciplines which include Anesthetics and ITU, Accident and Emergency (at FY2 and middle grade level), Care of the Elderly, Gastroenterology, General/Breast surgery, Genitourinary Medicine, Neonatology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Psychiatry. I have had broad medical exposure with varied medical experience having worked in inner city, urban/semi rural areas and in areas of both social deprivation and affluence. I enjoy General Practice and working within the multidisciplinary team environment. I am reliable and motivated to provide high quality patient-centred care. I have interests in Forensic and Legal Medicine, Substance misuse, Womens’ health (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) and Family Planning.

I have also worked for many years as a Forensic Physician - this involves the assessment and management of people in Police Custody, Police Officers, and the assessment of victims of rape and sexual assault. People in Police Custody are often some of the most complex people to deal with; they often have multiple comorbidities in combination with substance misuse, alcohol problems and acute mental health issues. I am familiar with the management of alcohol and drug withdrawal in the custody environment and have also partaken in many assessments under the Mental Health Act. My experience working with this group of people who are often vulnerable (and sometimes even children) is invaluable and has equipped me with the ability adapt my consultations, deal sensitively with patients about issues they may find difficult to talk about, establish good rapport and develop a healthy therapeutic relationship with them.

I hold the DFSRH with Letters of Competency in Subdermal implants and Intrauterine devices.

Personal interests

I enjoy doing charity work overseas. I raise funds, and collect items such as old glasses, clothing and old medical equipment to go on medical missions via church charity organisations to Africa where we offer free medical assessments, health promotion and treatment. I have been to Kenya, Sierra Leone and Nigeria in this capacity. I hope to start long-term reversible contraception provision in Africa as a project, as it is definitely needed and there is none available in many parts of Africa at present.

I am also the proud mother of 2 boys and enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
