Skills

AutoCAD

Proficient in AutoCAD. Reverse engineer and make detailed drawings of parts to be duplicated in the machine/fab shop. I have over fifteen years of experience in taking a basic idea and creating a detailed drawing of a component. Draw and maintain drawings of production floor layout, facility plumbing, electrical and ammonia refrigeration system. I have been working with drawing prints for the past 35 years.

Machine Shop

Highly skilled at operating manual machine shop tools such as lathes, vertical milling machines, surface grinders, drill presses, broaches, indexer heads and rotary milling tables. I have the ability to machine parts to specifications such as gears, sprockets, shafts, cut single point threads both metric and SAE. Work in S.S steel, carbon steel, plastics, bronze or brass and aluminum. I am experienced in CNC machining, but prefer manual machines. I am experienced in plastic injection molding tool maintenance, machining and polishing. I am experienced in rubber and plastic extrusion tool and die making. I can also Tig and Mig weld and operate plasma cutters. I can operate bend brakes and shears, fabricate sheet metal assemblies, and fabricate structures for heavy machinery platforms, frames, etc. I have been doing this type work, along with the drafting I mentioned above for about 43 years.

Scheduler / Planner

Schedule and manage contractors, who are involved installing new production equipment, adding on to the existing building, re-arranging walls and ceiling panels in office spaces and production areas.

Schedule and manage contractors in such a fashion so that when one phase is completed the next phase begins seamlessly without any delay. kit materials and tooling, and keep the project moving forward within budget and on time.

Create a project spreadsheet listing all details of a project; including budget limits, start and completion target dates, and list responsibilities of everyone involved, list all contacts, permit numbers. Track costs and compare with the budget as the project develops. Keep the Facilities Manager up to date as a project develops. This spreadsheet is more detailed than a Gant Chart is. I typically include the smallest details of a project, even who is responsible for cleaning up after themselves and putting the tools away.

Schedule construction crews, equipment, and materials to prevent any delay in getting a project started and to keep the project moving forward.

Create and provide detail drawings of utilities, plumbing, and facility structures of all phases of a project to Plant Managers, Contractors, Safety Manager, and Operations.

I get in with the contractors and work with them like one of their crew, I don’t try to run a project from my desk, but I break away from them long enough to think and make sure the next phase is on track and ready to go. I work just as hard as any of their crewmembers. This allows me to know that the project is being done according to expiations and answer any questions that come up or may come up later.

The crews I have dealt with have mainly been dealing with upgrading the facility. These project run the gambit such as adding on a new clinic/gym, installing new production lines, adding a new roof to the facility, and installation of new floor drain systems. I have been scheduling/planning contractor crews for the past 5 years and I have been successful at it. I have been doing all of the drafting involved in these projects and also taking care of anything that needed machined. So, AUTO CAD, Machine Shop and Scheduling/Planning all go together.
