SUMMARY OF CURRENT/RECENT RESEARCH ACTIVITIES AND MANAGEMENT DUTIES

• PhD Candidate (Thesis submitted), Department of Wildlife Management PMAS Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, Pakistan

• Member IUCN Pangolin Specialist (2012 onwards)

• Member WWF Pakistan (2014 onwards)

• Author/Co-Author of 23 journal papers, impact factor =17.831

• Actively involved in Carnivores research since 2011

• Involved in Pangolin research since 2012.

• Working for conservation of Mammals and Birds in Pakistan RESEARCH

My current research activities encompass two interconnected areas of investigation: 2

• Studies on Ecology of mammals and birds

• Spreading awareness and educating local communities for conservation of Wildlife In both areas of expertise, I have built up and maintained considerable research momentum. I have achieved an acknowledged international reputation, particularly for my research and expertise on mammals and birds demonstrated by my success in attracting substantial research funding.

Research Grants and Awards

Over the past one and half years, I have been successful in securing ~33,000 USD of competitive research funding, principally from the Rufford Foundation, OBC, IDEA WILD, The Muhammad Bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund and Higher Education Commission Pakistan. I have a high success rate with funding applications and I have also demonstrated research leadership through instigating and directing these research projects. I am engaged in active research networks with many national and international institutions. Funding

Research Highlights

My research has led to several unique lines of scientific enquiry, notably:

• Resource Partitioning among Sympatric Carnivore Species: My PhD research focuses on diversity, distribution, diet composition, prey species abundance, niche breadth, niche overlap of carnivore species and their conflict with humans at Pir Lasura National Park AJ&K, Pakistan.

• Ecology of Indian Panoglin in Potohar Region: We worked on distribution, population, diet composition, habitat characteristics, breeding biology, morphometry and threats faced by Pangolin in Potohar Region. We first time reported massive illegal killing of Endangered Indian Pangolin for its scales in Pakistan.

• Habitat Preference, Roosting Ecology and Threats to Red Jungle Fowl: My M. Sc. Research was on Red Jungle Fowl only found in one National Park of Pakistan called Deva Vatala National Park.

• Breeding Biology of Small Indian Mongoose: My M. Phil. Thesis was on the study of breeding biology of small Indian Mongoose (Herpestes javanicus) inhabiting district Chakwal.

• Ecology and Conservation of Indian Pangolin in AJ&K, Pakistan: Research on Ecology and Conservation of Indian Pangolin (Manis crassicaudata) in protected and unprotected areas of AJ&K since 2014. My research projects focus on collection of data on baseline ecological parameters like distribution, population and threats followed by spreading awareness education among adjoining local communities for conservation of Indian Pangolin since it is being killed for its scales by local hunters.

• Ecology and Conservation of Egyptian Vulture: Describing the ecology of Egyptian Vulture in and around Pir Lasura National Park, AJ&K, Pakistan. Working on its population, breeding biology, threats and conservation.
