Contracted to Intecsa Industrial on an Integrated Solar Combined Cycle Power Plant (ISCCPP), on the Duba Green Power project in Duba, Saudi Arabia, as a Commissioning Specialist. The solar field consists of a CSP Thermal 40mw solar field with parabolic trough collectors. Initial assignment is Permit to Work & LOTO coordinator and as the project progresses, as the Control Room Lead. (90 day contract).

Senior Technical Adviser: 03/16 to 12/16

Contracted to ACWA Power/NOMAC, on a CSP Thermal Solar project NOOR 1 in Quarzazate, Morocco as a Senior Technical Advisor. The plant is a 160mw/hr CSP with a capacity of 3 hours of thermal energy storage (TES). The solar field consists of parabolic trough collectors. The project is located in the province of Quarzazate in Morocco, in the region of Souss-Massa-Draa, Morocco.

During transient operation, electricity can be produced from both sources at the same time, Solar Field and Thermal Storage Discharge.

During Thermal Storage discharge mode of operation, the HTF is heated up by the Molten Salts, which electricity is generated via the steam generated in the Steam Generation System and transferred to the steam turbine.

Implemented a “Plant Performance & Operations Improvement” action plan with positive results.

Operations Manager/Training Supervisor: 09/15 to 03/16

Contracted to ACWA Power/NOMAC, I am the acting Operations Manager on Bokpoort Solar project in Bokpoort, Northern Cape, South Africa. In addition I provide supervision for the development of a training program specific to a solar power plant with TES (Thermal Energy Storage) molten salt storage. I coordinate with the EPC contractor in the plant turnover to the client. Provide control room operator supervision as well.

Provide weekly reports to the NOMAC management team on the training program progress, plant operational status and various plant tests status.

Operations/Control Room Supervisor: 01/15 to 07/15

Contracted to Boyle Energy Service & Technology (BES&T), I provide commissioning advice to the EPC contractor (TERNA), plant operations and control room supervision. The plant consists of: Combined cycle with two GE 9FB Gas Turbines and one D11 Steam Turbine in a multi shaft arrangement, two NEM Heat Recovery Steam Generator equipped with an exhaust gas by-pass diverter damper for simple and combined cycle modes of operations a Steam Surface Condenser; a Mechanical Draft Cooling Tower and Water Treatment Plant; ABB DCS control system with a nominal 811 megawatt capacity.

In addition I provide weekly reports on the status of unit start-up activities to the startup manager and coverer the startup manager’s position in his absence.

Owners Representative: 10/2014 to 01/2015

Contracted to Green Power Solutions (GPS) of Georgia, LLC the project is developing a 25 megawatt (“MW ”) biomass-fired renewable energy power plant near Dublin, Georgia. The Project is located at a paper mill owned and operated by SP Fiber Technologies, LLC (“SPFT”). The Project will sell energy and capacity to Georgia Power Company (“Georgia Power”) and will sell steam to SPFT.

The Project will utilize an existing fluidized recirculation bed boiler and steam turbine that currently provide process steam and power to the Paper Mill, the project is installing updated emissions control equipment, modifying an existing fuel yard and substation, and performing major maintenance on the boiler and turbine.

My responsibilities include interfacing with the ESI (EPC Contractor) start-up team and the plant operators. Assist in developing operating procedures and set of plant logs to include power sales to Georgia Power.

Startup Manager 03/2013-12/2013

Genesis Solar Project, Blythe, CA- Working for UEI and contracted to FPL/NextEra.

Manage the startup the commissioning, and the turnover of the Solar Facility within its procedure, cost and scheduling. The project consists of two 125Mw each, CSP, parabolic trough type solar power plants located in Blythe, CA. The plants consist of a Rankine steam cycle BOP, an ACC, SENER Trough solar collectors, Siemens steam turbine generator set, and Siemens T300 DCS for controls./

Provide project management with weekly and monthly reports on the status of unit start-up activities. Ensure compliance to the start-up schedule and budget. Interface with client / operator and construction to ensure safe start-up and final turnover of plant.

Solar Field Construction Manager/Commissioning Manager 05/2010 to 3/2013

Abengoa Solar, Inc. Lakewood, CO.

Manage and supervise the engineering, the erection, the commissioning, the startup and the turnover of the

Solar Field within its procedure, cost and scheduling. Ensure the work is completed with due regard to the safety of personnel and company assets while meeting project key milestone dates. Ensure that all internal and

External interfaces are coordinated with various parties (Owner Client/EPC Contractor/Other Project Management).

Coordinate the Basic and Detailed engineering of the Solar Field. Establish a clear policy and general rules to apply to all disciplines related to the Solar Field, in order to have a coherent and homogeneous Construction Team. Provide Advice to the Project Manager. Manage the construction of the Heat Transfer System relative to the Solar Field. Ascertain that the Solar Field and HTF system specifications and performance are met. Coordinate with local authorities. Ensure proper Performance and Reliability tests are performed on the project. Assigned to the CSP, parabolic trough plants in Spain. Through operator training the duration of the plant startup was reduced by a substantial amount of time increasing the daily electrical production. Changed plant startup logic and reduced the plant parasitic load. Parasitic load reduction equaled to a million euro’s per plant, per year in savings. Provided operator training to the plant operations department resulting in production increase.

Contracted to ACWA Power/NOMAC, as a senior technical advisor on a 160mw/hr CSP project in Morocco with a 3 hour storage capacity of thermal energy storage (TES) system. The plant consists of the following: a 170mw/hrs capacity Siemens steam turbine; Siemens DCS control system, Parabolic Trough type solar collectors, 230kv switch yard, Heat Transfer Fluid system, water treatment facility, wet cooling tower, Solar Field Control system, etc.

Formulated a plant & operations improvement action plan. Plan was implemented with favorable results:

Daily startup of the plant was reduced by 30 to 45 minutes resulting higher electrical production;

Reduced the plant electrical parasitic load by a substantial amount; reduced the over-all water usage by a substantial amount;

Resulted in a tangible substantial plant performance improvement.

The project was a combined cycle consisting of a two 9FB Gas Turbines and one D11 Steam Turbine in multi shaft arrangement, two Heat Recovery Steam Generators complete with a flue gas bypass systems, a Steam Surface Condenser, a Mechanical Draft Cooling Tower and a Water Treatment Plant with a nominal capacity of 811 MW at reference conditions. The plant provided power to the Greek grid.

Electrical systems included a 230Kv substation and a Foxboro DCS control system.

In addition to the supervisor role, I provided daily and a weekly summary reposts to the project management. Assumed the startup manager role during the startup manager’s rollout. Supervised the training of the TERNA control room and power block operators. Coordinated the systems walk downs and ensured all pertinent systems turnover documentation were in order.

Green Power Solutions (GPS)

Contracted to Green Power Solutions (GPS) of Georgia, LLC the project is developing a 25 megawatt (“MW ”) biomass- fired renewable energy power plant near Dublin, Georgia. The CFB boiler was converted from coal fuel to biomass and used up the remaining coal reserves. At times burning both fuel sources at once. The Project is located at a paper mill owned and operated by SP Fiber Technologies, LLC (“SPFT”). The Project will sell energy and capacity to Georgia Power Company (“Georgia Power”) and will sell steam to SPFT.

The Project will utilize an existing fluidized recirculation bed boiler and steam turbine that currently provide process steam and power to the Paper Mill, the project is installing updated emissions control equipment, modifying an existing fuel yard and substation, and performing major maintenance on the boiler and turbine. The plant modifications include a new generator exciter control system, switch yard provisions to allow power sales to the grid, new modern steam turbine control system. Development of DCS logic for a new boiler master control scheme to include steam supply to the paper mill and electrical production.

My responsibilities include interfacing with the ESI (EPC Contractor) start-up team and the plant operators. Ensure owner is receiving properly commissioned systems with all pertinent systems turnover documentation completed as per EPC contract. Ensure the operators and maintenance receive proper training according to EPC contract. Review and participate in the punch list process. Attend construction and startup meetings. Advise client relative to the construction and startup schedules.

Assist in developing operating procedures and set of plant logs to include power sales to Georgia Power. Change

Operator’s operating practices to ensure power production as a priority to achieve maximum revenue sale of power.

The project was a unique challenge due to the normal power feed to the plant, a 230kv system was not available during the initial commissioning of unit 2 (1st plant scheduled for COD). Developed a plan to commission major systems using temporary diesel generators until a temporary 115kv systems was installed. Steam blows were accomplished using the

115kv system. The 230kv system was available before COD of unit 2 and initial commissioning of unit 1.

The project was behind schedule by a couple of months. I was instructed by senior management to achieve the project original COD date. We as a startup team and construction cooperation achieved original COD date on both units 1 & 2.

Solana Solar Power Plant: Gila Bend, AZ

Performed mechanical testing and troubleshooting of CTG systems. Conducted lube oil flush to meet GE specs. Cleaned the following system piping: fuel gas, water injection, fuel oil, C02 fire protection, purge air, and bleed air systems. Ensure unit was ready for scheduled first fire.

Trained outside operators on operations of the GE combustion gas turbines including pre-operational systems checks and normal operations.
