The total experience includes the experience in OEMs such as Honda R&D Americas, UTC aerospace, General Motors and General Electric.

Experienced in Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI), Six Sigma, Design of Experiments, Optimization of design, Probabilistic Analysis, FMEA, Fish Bone Diagrams, Process improvement, CFD and heat transfer includes the external and internal flow analyses on nacelle components, the aerodynamic and thermal analyses of passenger cars and the heat transfer and fluid system design of the energy gas turbines.

Skill Set

Computational Fluid Dynamics Tools: Fluent, Star CCM+, CFX, Ansys Multiphysics, Icepak, Radtherm, ICEM Hexa &Tetra, ANSA, Patran, P-Thermal, T-Grid and Catia V5.

Six-Sigma Tools: Design Expert, Minitab.

Software skills: C, C++, Database Management Systems, Oracle, Java, LINDO, Excel Solver, Arena, MATLAB.

Professional Experience

Honda R&D Americas (Through Altair Product Design), Ohio, US (Contract Ended) Jul, 2016 –Aug 2017

CAE/CFD Engineer L2-Computational Methods Group

Full vehicle heat resistance modeling using Starccm+ from scratch, on Acura MDX. This includes downloading parts from Catia, geometry corrections in Ansa and meshing and simulation in Starccm+.

Process Improvement to emulate pulsating flow inside exhaust pipe: Devised a method to model the exhaust flow using Turbulent Kinetic Energy method in Starccm+. The new method improved the flow physics inside the exhaust pipe and helped in improving predicting the thermocouple temperatures on Honda Pilot.

United Technologies Corporation, Bangalore, India. Feb, 2010 –Mar, 2013

Senior Engineer-Aero Thermal Group-R&D

Chosen to solve the problem of Thermal Anti-Ice exhaust plume to the nacelle surface and designed innovative concepts to reduce the skin temperature of the nacelle of Boeing 787 ‘Dreamliner’ more than 50%.

Developed solution to solve the problem of flutter (2-way Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI)) and provided training to other employees enabling reduction in training costs by 65%.

Devised innovative concepts on split-bypass study to reduce static pressure distortion on fan of turbo-fan engine by 30% by capturing moving wave which caused the fan face pressure distortion.

General Motors, Bangalore, India. Nov, 2007 –Nov, 2009

Senior Engineer – Aero Thermal Group

Reduced aerodynamic drag by 29 counts by designing of active aero-shutters for passenger car ‘Chevrolet Cruze’, that increased mileage by 1.74 mile per gallon.

Devised new methodology to reduce the number of Computational runs using Design of Experiments, which reduced the total run time by 70%, in the aero-shutter study.

Achieved an increase in mileage by 0.6 mile per gallon, by designing and optimizing air-dam on Cadillac.

Reduced run time by using Radtherm instead of Fluent in designing the heat shields around exhaust and trained the team members in following the best practices.

General Electric India Technology Center (GEITC), Bangalore, India. Jul, 2004 –Oct, 2007

Engineer – Heat Transfer and Fluid System Design Group

Optimized the secondary cooling system in ‘9H’ compressor rotor and achieved reduction of scrubbing and keep the compressor disk temperatures in permissible limits – This enabled the gas turbine to reach 60% efficiency.

Slashed cooling flow by 20% by designing and optimizing by-pass hole, to cool the marriage joint in ‘7H’ gas turbine that avoided redesign of thermal piping and accessories - This resulted in cost savings over $100,000.

Amended the Design practices with sensitivity studies on 9H compressor rotor.
