EXPERIENCE

HAVI – Downers Grove, IL Employee, 08/16 – 09/17

Demand Planner

EAS (Efficiency-Assured Supply) and ROP (Restaurant Order Proposal) demand planner for McDonald’s, HAVI’s largest customer with 14,300 restaurants nationwide. Responsible for the everyday planning of Apples, Coffee, Tea, Hot Cups, Dessert and Potato categories as well as national, regional and local tactic promotional activity.

Develop, tune and maintain 18-month rolling forecasts for 442 basic menu items at all 33 distribution centers of McDonald’s in the US. Category and item MAPEs are measured, investigated and reported on a weekly basis to management.

Create promotional and seasonal item forecasts through working with the national and regional forecasting teams for all McCafe items at 13,600 restaurants utilizing like-item proxies, analyzing DC indices as well as historical and prior promotional data and forecasting simulations. The Espresso Revitalization project led to the introduction of 45 new menu items and a projected 30% increase to the expected annual sales unit volume for the espresso line which was successfully launched regionally in March and nationally August 2017.

Working with project managers, create forecasts for brand extensions in an advertising and/or extended sales test at a specific DC and coop of restaurants utilizing market research including demographics, focus studies and other intel from McDonald’s and HAVI Analytics.

Analyzed and compiled prior promotional event history, repeating local tactics at the coop and DC level, upcoming events and expectations and year-over-year and seasonal analysis which led to discussions with McDonald’s Marketing and Sourcing on upcoming seasonal events, national/regional/local promotions and product line extensions and discontinuations.

Conduct biweekly or as-needed category/brand/item reviews with Supply Planning, giving them intel so they can better plan capacity, sourcing and logistics. Meetings with Project Management are typically weekly or as-needed for all categories managed.

TreeHouse Foods Inc. – Downers Grove, IL Employee, 02/16 – 08/16

ConAgra Foods, Inc. (Private Brands) – Downers Grove, IL Employee, 04/15 – 02/16

Demand Planning Analyst

Demand planner for In-Store Bakery (ISB) within the Retail Bakery pillar of TreeHouse Foods Private Brands (formerly ConAgra Private Brands) with an FY16 budget of $317.5MM. Communicate daily with Supply, Sales, Brand and Finance to proactively work through supply and production issues, market research/trends, customer requirements and the eight seasons of ISB. Presented the period actuals, metrics and projections on a monthly basis to the VP/GMs of the pillar, Directors of Finance and Brand and associates.

Developed and maintained 18-month rolling forecasts for all customers and regions of the ISB pillar (525 forecasted cookie SKUs, 245 breads, 60 bagels, donuts, danishes, 45 cakes, sweet goods and biscuits). Designed and implemented several ad hoc reports for each ISB category, customer and region-specific. These reports served as a basis for the monthly or as needed demand review with Sales and were used cross-functionally in the other Retail Bakery segments (Griddle, Food Service and Refrigerated Dough).

Assisted in the development of the production model for a volume input tool for all pillars (excluding ISB) through user acceptance testing with Field Sales. It enhanced traceability of volume adjustments, trends, promotional activity as well as distribution changes. The predecessor had restrictions when it came to the ISB business and I developed an enhanced version which was distributed to Sales. The tool I created was easily filterable, modular and traceable. It was also more user friendly and adaptable than the IT-developed input tool according to Sales.

Proactively created models depicting history, forecasts, trends and divisional consumption and distributed to Sales in advance of our 1-on-1 meetings in order to review demand as well as upcoming seasonal planning. As a result, average accuracy by period has increased to 73%+ since taking over the ISB segment. Improvements were continually sought and distributed to Sales with positive feedback time and again.

Designated super-user of the Sales Data Warehouse (SDW) data manipulation tool. I had trained several people from Demand Planning, Sales, Supply, Brand and Finance on the capabilities and use of the tool. I created and distribute tailor-made reports requiring only a refresh to all internal customers of various departments and levels. Primary contact to IT in the event there are any systems issues.

Achieved an annual 0% Bias and 73% Accuracy metric for my segment of ISB/Retail Bakery from April 2015 to April 2016, the best in all Private Brand pillars (other pillars were Snacks, Condiments, Cereal, Pasta, Bars).

Acted as department manager for Retail Bakery in the absence of a manager since December 2015. Conducted departmental meetings to discuss projects, difficulties encountered, process improvements and informal communication in order to maintain cohesiveness among us three demand planners. I also represent Retail Bakery during the monthly Management Business Review where I present Retail Bakery performance metrics to senior leadership of Private Brands. Acted as the team lead for the demand planners when asked for information from senior leadership regarding anything involving demand planning in Retail Bakery.

Takeda Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. – Deerfield, IL Randstad Pharma contractor, 10/14 – 03/15

Inventory Planning Manager (Six-month contract)

Responsible for the demand planning and supply management of the Rozerem brand portfolio, including budgets and scrap disposition. Created purchase orders, coordinated the production of bulk material, third party contract packaging and the logistics to the cross-dock and distribution to forward DCs. Created, compiled and distributed monthly metric reporting to senior and executive management.

Along with the Sr. Inventory Planning Manager, coordinated the training and migration to SAP APO for the four other demand planners. The Sr. Inventory Planning Manager and myself were the designated power-users of APO to be used as resources by the planners and personally trained the planners. Personally worked with consultants from SAP Germany to troubleshoot implementation issues.

Blistex Inc. – Oak Brook, IL Employee, 08/08 – 10/13

Associate Buyer The LaSalle Network consultant, 12/07 – 08/08

Performed Canadian distribution planning, inventory obsolescence management and brand analyses as well as all MRO procurement-related activities for Blistex Inc., a globally-recognized health and personal care products manufacturer.

Responsible for inventory availability and Demand Planning at Blistex Corporation, Blistex Inc.’s subsidiary in Mississauga, Ontario. By analyzing the sales history, anticipated demand, inventory and component levels, subsequently proposed a plan for the distribution of finished goods in Canada to the Master Scheduler. Accommodated the special handling and promotional items by optimizing packaging (shipping different WIP-levels and configurations, reducing obsolescence by 40%) for finished goods and delivery timing. Increased on-time and complete from 35% to 70% within the first year.

Identified and proposed resolutions for regulatory compliance on packaging for each brand of Canadian finished goods. Discovered a brand which was not updated for 18 years. By researching guidelines and directorates supplied by Health Canada with assistance from third party regulatory compliance associates, obsolescence was minimized and other penalties avoided. Planned and managed updates on packaging according to deadlines for ingredient statements and other claims simultaneously as opposed to multiple interim updates.

Managed inventory obsolescence budgets for the United States and Canada. Responsible for the regular review of all inventory for obsolete packaging, short-dated WIP and finished goods, especially within swiftly declining brands. By working with Sales, Marketing and Quality, components and goods were identified that may be exhausted via soft run outs, closeouts or other promotions instead of disposal or donation. Through these efforts a 20% reduction in the aggregate inventory obsolescence budget was attained.

Assumed responsibility for various corrugate and raw materials. Identified a new source for a chemical through an MRO contact utilizing the same manufacturer and realized a 300% cost savings. Utilized the MRP to identify ROPs. Kept track of retest dates for chemicals and in the event they could not be retested in-house by QC, contacted the manufacturer inquiring on further retesting prior to purchasing new material.

Consolidated numerous suppliers and realized great cost savings and quality in the process. By building and maintaining a great rapport with the sales and customer service managers and representatives, the few issues we had were resolved quickly and without incident.

Routinely provided detailed analyses of products associated with low-movement brands for Operations, Marketing and Sales. As a member of the Brand Core Team, attended and supported regularly-scheduled meetings involving the category managers and associates, sales managers and sales analysts, and occasionally vice presidents and other senior executives to discuss and resolve any points of concern.

Identified $30K worth of cartoned WIP and finished goods which were deemed unsalable due to a unique UPC code which was created for a particular customer. Explored destruction alternatives and personally performed time trials to determine production rework throughput and associated labor costs. Afterwards I sourced and procured custom, destructible and aesthetically compliant labels with revised, universal UPC coding. The inventory was re-labeled and then shipped to common SKU customers.

Amended and generated the production schedule review report, a schedule-adherence monitoring tool which identified bottlenecks and line overscheduling. Rough cut capacity planning was performed by production line to determine which require a reappropriation of resources.

Conducted annual NAFTA reviews of Blistex products by confirming the HTS code and description before distributing them to our customers upon request (certificates of origin for our packaging components and chemicals).
