Participated in project to upgrade VMware 5.5 to VMware 6.0. Used VMotion to evacuate Vmhosts and shared storage from ESX server to facilitate firmware and VMware / Vsphere upgrade.
Unix support for project involving replacement of Legacy Solaris based application with hew RHEL based package. Supported over 6000 SUN and Red Hat servers/virtual machines across the world.
Responsible for patching and maintaining RHEL errata data via Red Hat Satellite.
Created numerous reports polling (all stores) business critical information for management decision making and troubleshooting using sh and ksh shell scripts as well as Python scripts using SQL queries.
Installed and administered AppDynamics and Nagios for server monitoring and troubleshooting notification. Maintained RAID 10 Configuration using Dell’s MegaCli
Unix system performance tuning and bench marking. Using tools like traceroute, tcpdump and Wireshark for deeper network troubleshooting.
ALCON, Johns Creek Georgia Aug 2013– Dec 2015
UNIX Systems Engineer
I supported all flavors of Unix servers; AIX, HP and SUN at Alcon’s new ultra-modern data center. The
infrastructure systems run VMware vSphere 5.0, CentOS, Redhat Linux 6.X.
Used vRealize to create Apache Vmhosts for multiple instances on different VLANs
for worldwide accounting system.
I was the SME for new hardware and software acquisition. I handle patching and SAN storage matters.
Technical lead who migrated an Internationally based accounting system from an HP 11.00 platform
to a Red Hat 6.3 VMware platform. I handle troubleshooting and new application deployment in heavily
clustered environment. I moved their legacy systems from old obsolete technology to a new RHEL
environment in Cisco’s Vblock . Apache, Tomcat and HTTP.
HEWLETT PACKARD COMPANY, Atlanta, Georgia Apr 2001- Aug 2013
UNIX Systems Engineer
Technical and Project lead of a five man group charged with replicating and moving a 70 server/lPars and nPars environment to a new state of the art datacenter. I was voted MVP of the four month project.
I was the Unix Team Lead within HP’s outsourcing group. We maintained and enhanced our customer’s UNIX servers and application environments. I was in direct contact with the customer and added value at the point of contact, point of sale. I also interact and direct first and second level staff members.
Worked on several Trade accounts within HP. There are over 100 UNIX servers and VMs using all OS versions of HP-UX 11.0 to 11.31. Forty percent of the servers are Red Hat Linux in a VMware/Virtual SAN environment. The environment contains an Oracle SAP application running on NPARs and VPARs. The environment contains two, three and five node MC Service guard clusters on Red Hat and HP-UX.
Tasked with: OS installations and upgrades, performance tuning and troubleshooting, LVM file system maintenance and growth, security, HW issues (network and SAN). Periodic projects include: patching, disaster recovery, OS upgrade, software and OS installations and tech refreshes. I am experienced in using Mondorescue and bare bones scripting in disaster recovery for Linux.
I converted another trade environment from using all SUN equipment to using all HP equipment. On another account I supported twenty HP-UX servers running 11.31 and 18 SUN servers running Solaris 9 with 6 TBs of data residing on EVAs. The account has primarily legacy systems and a 4 node Serviceguard cluster that I helped to recently implement. I also assisted in the implementation of RMA software for database replication using a snap/clone procedure.
ALLTEL, Atlanta, Georgia 2000-2001
UNIX Systems Administrator (Contractor)
I was brought in as a Contractor to facilitate Alltel transitioning from HP hardware to a pair of SUN
E10Ks. I was the point man concerning technical issues in acquiring the E10Ks. I assisted in
implementing procedures to do common E10K activities like console configuration and resource (CPU,
Memory reallocation.
General Electric, Cincinnati, Ohio 1998-2000

Certified in GE’s Six-Sigma program. UNIX server count increased from 125 to 435 (60% Solaris) while I was at GE. I developed documentation to facilitate systematically incorporating new SUN servers into the environment. I maintained, enhanced and supported Service Guard environment for NBC (GE subsidiary).
